This happened in Texas, and the killer was an elderly man. He called police, told them his plans, and was repeatedly warned told not to shoot them. However this being Texas I wonder if he'll get away with justifiable homicide x 2. What do you think?

Personally, I'm sick and tired of criminals having more rights than law-abiding citizens. If the facts of this case end up in the 'gray-area', I'd much rather see it go in this gentelman's favor.
This really should be simple - you go breaking into people's houses - you face a really good chance of getting your a** blown away! Why is this such a difficult concept for some? Might be a little less crime out there don't you think?

Well, having seen nothing about this until now, I can't say much. But you seem to have answered your own question in the phrase "justifiable homicide" -- based on that alone, he should be alright. Maybe a disturbing the peace ticket or two would do for him. Stupid mess for the cops to clean up, too much paperwork, you know.

Sentence? For a heroic action? The Nobel Peace Prize should be taken from that lunatic Gore and awarded to him.

Bear in mind that juries have the right to vote Not Guilty, based upon their determination of the fairness of any law, itself, IN ADDITION to considering the facts pertaining directly to the case.

He will be charged with homocide of a certain degree.Maybe 3rd. Self defense is not a defense for the actions he took when your life is not perceived to be in danger. Going outside and shooting 2 thieves, doesn't really qualify. The use of lethal force is not justified in protecting personal property. Regardless of how you feel about the situation, the law is specific in this area.

Policemen were invented in England (1829) as neighbours in uniform. So, a neighbour shooting a possibly armed criminal is the same morally (but not legally) as a policemen doing so.
USA did much the same thing for UK in 1941, for which we remain grateful.
