I support amnesty only for exceptional illegals...the ones who have the potential to help America versus the ones only adding to its miseries. If these exceptionally bright illegals could turn themselves into professionals: doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists, ....value added individuals....putting themselves through school with their own money, not the government's money ; not the US taxpayers' money......and they would have a limited amount of time to effect this metamorphisis, say...no longer than the college program requires or no more than, say....10 years...maintaining throughout at least a 3.5 GPA. And, if the US could work out a deal with them whereby they agree to remain in America for 20 years minimum after graduating to contribute to this society AND if they agreed to limiting the amount of kids they had, I would definitely be for giving them amnesty...30 years hence after all that remains to be seen has been proven. Only under those terms though would I agree to it...any seditious moves on their part and they would be kicked out instantly. No one asked them to come here...they imposed themselves upon this country. However, if they intend to stay permanently, they had better WORK LIKE A CRAZY PERSON to prove that they are THE best in whatever field they choose. Do you think deporting an illegal that could be the next Madame Curie or Albert Einstein is in the best interests of the United States? What do you think?

My question is: The illegal is identified as having this potential through testing....NCLB (lol...) or something after they have entered the US illegally. Then, are they given a chance?

A Short Question: You are riding in a plane and the pilot suddenly has a stroke and dies. The only person that can fly the plane is a hand-cuffed criminal on his way to a deposition hearing. Would you all go down in flames (cuz you don't want help from no stinkin' criminal) or would you have the Marshall he's handcuffed to uncuff the criminal ( who is accused of trespass and bank robbery) so that the criminal could land the plane and save your lives?

The cost is entirely the illegal's problem...the US has nothing to do with funding their studies. Whether or not the illegal keeps up with what they are supposed to do is on them alone.

No, Amnesty for illegal criminals no exceptions. You start making acceptions and then before long they are all "exceptions". I'll fly the darn plane!

And NO waivers slipped into the text for 'family unity' or 'humanitarian issues' where the requirement that these people be so exceptional is basically washed away? The last Dream act had waivers that would have let in gang members and those guilty of crimes and would have let anyone apply and get current legallity until some distant year when their claim was reviewed, with 6 years to perform 2 years of vocational school. Basically, I think the laws need to be tailored to what they are pretending they target.
IF they came in YOUNG (before 12, not 16, since in studies that seems to be the cutoff for where they actually are able to shift to an assimilation mindset and educational bent) and IF they came before a date certain, not creating a draw for people to bring more children in the future to let them qualify for this. And IF they are not over 25 now.
We shouldn't have to scrutinize our legislature to make sure they don't 'slip stuff in' to the boilerplate, but unfortunately that is exactly what we do have to do.

No.
The Federal Government deliberatly with-held funds from the Immigration Service to 'open the borders'. The Federal Government deliberately did not enforce the law.
Unfortunately the cost of parsing through the applications would cost a fortune. Further, there is a rule in American Law which say, the criminal shall not profit from his crime. I do not want to reward illegal aliens in any manner at all.
But in the meantime, we have discovered that multiculturalism is a very, very expensive item for us to have done. And while the next genuis may well be in country as an illegal alien, it is impossiable to see that unless that person has already publically show remarkable genuis and no one... no one at all.... has shown up on the radar that even vaguely looks like that.

What you wrote would pertain to all legals that our government for whatever reason was going to deport back to their countries. You're addressing exceptional illegals that should see fit to get their citizenship to avoid any problems of being in the US, illegal. The time limits you pointed out to me is in the same category as Social Security, the money is earned here but after a certain amount of time can be collect in another country which leaves the support of that money being used in the US void.
Outstanding ideas, but no support in the way you want to do it.

Why ought to illegals get a loose pass? they are being requested to pay $5,000. that does no longer start up to make amends for lost taxes down the years. It extremely covers the costs of admitting them legally (i have not considered the actual proposed bill so as that would want to correctly be one extra cost). I spent $6,000 of my own money to come back right here legally and that i have not complete spending yet. i hit upon it difficult to settle for that someone who has lived off the backs of taxpayers (maximum of them do, shall we be consumer-pleasant) can come right here illegally and finally end up with a extra robust deal than someone who does it legally. EDIT: if you happen to're deluded, it isn't in basic terms unlawful immigrants who take jobs that some individuals imagine are below them. i'm a criminal immigrant and got here from the united kingdom with many years experience interior the accounting occupation. My first activity changed into promoting fish in a food market - beside a Mexican (unlawful because it seems) a criminal Mexican (who turned right into a manager) and assorted individuals. My next activity changed into in a monetary employer, then a payroll employer and now I have a good activity operating for a CPA. like the criminal Mexican, I have stronger myself (in 5 years). Do you imagine there's a progression right here? I do. we do not choose unlawful immigrants. we've a lot of criminal 2d, third and fourth determination hopefuls (kin of present immigrants for those of you who do not understand) who can take the illegals' places. those human beings, extra commonly than no longer, have an education that would want to in difficulty-free words benefit us of a. i'd like to attraction to close who the thumbs-downers are. of route, they are in basic terms hitting and operating. they are actual no longer answering the question - there are not sufficient solutions antagonistic to amnesty.

I'm thinking....mmmmm... no.
Let's just enforce the laws, first. Get everyone back to their desks ... er... I mean, back where they belong, and let them come to grips with where they are and what they're going to have to do to make things better.
Right now, most of us feel about these nations (especially Mexico's forceful government) like we felt about the British when they burned down the White House.
Hundred years later and we were best buds. But that's BECAUSE they proved themselves.
Time will tell if nations that shove their poor people onto us will clean up their act. If they do, we can talk nicer then.

IF and when we get the numbers of illegals down to something even close to reasonable, then yes, I wouldn't mind the occasional judgment call.
But right now, the system is SO overwhelmed that it's not reasonable to add yet another loop-hole. Let's eforce the current laws and get things under control first.
For now: Deport 'em all - let God sort 'em out.

How about we give citizenship to exceptional LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. We have more people attempting to come to this country than we can every possibly accept. As the others said, you do NOT reward criminals. Period.
What does the criminal flying the plane have to do with granting citizenship to illegal alien criminals??

Hon, if you crossed the border illegally, you committed a CRIME. If I can't plead poverty for stealing from the supermarket, they shouldn't be able to plead some excuse for breaking our laws. Entering this country illegally shows ultimate disrespect for our laws and our citizens, and there is nothing exceptional about that. Send them HOME!

No illegal alien should be given amnesty. The only people that should be granted citizenship are those that go through the legal process.
