Then I keep hearing we are a nation of immigrants -- which one is it ?
I guess Americans = white folk only when there is a negitave conotation.
Then the " we are a nation of immigrants" line is popular when there is an argument for pro- draining the LEGAL taxpayer.

You will never get people to admit this, but you're right. A white person walking down the street in a U.S. neighborhood is assumed to be American. A non-white is assumed to be a foreigner first. If a brown person is assumed to be an outsider, this shows that Americans are not as multicultural as they like to brag.

Maybe you should check yourself. People have different perceptions about that. Though the media does interpret it that way. When you hear a good cause or something about america they usually show lots of caucasians and yes sure you get your token black guy. But I think times are changing for the better in some ways in society. But when most people now a days hear "american" they see all races.

They believe they are the only True American, And they refuse to join the service to fight for their country, out of a nation of 300 million it is a National Shame, That America's youth do not believe she is worth their service and leave the same Troops to be deployed 4,5,6, times to Iraq to do the fighting and advocate taking on Iran!

Maybe to you.... in which case you should adjust your view of this nation... but don't feel bad... there are those that try to "divide and conquer " by splitting up Americans into factions and sub factions... any hyphenated American is an example of this division... we are all Americans and are being sold out by those that just want control, power, and money

to me an american is a united states citizen who is of any race, religion and culture. when illegals talk about americans they bring the white race up. if i did, then my bad. right now i'm so sick of my own country craping on americans for illegals. it's fustrating. i'm really thinking about moving my american family to cananda to get the heck away from the illegals and the dumb americans who want to defend illegals.

It is bigotry in action, but it is also important to understand that if such as MSNBC does the bigotry, they feel it is O.K.
I would point out though, that their Ox is getting gored left and right now and they have begun to provide very silly justifications for their behaviour.

I am a so called white person, who worked hard all my life, cared for my family , payed my taxes, kept my nose clean, am tired of when the words white American come up are almost used as profanity

immigrants work within the law and move to an established country.
colonists tame wild areas, often taking land from the natives, thus becoming

Who are you talking to? Or are you a mind reader? I have never heard anyone say that the assumption with the word American is "white folk". Anyone who is a citizen of the US is an American and that is how people see it. You are an incredibly closed minded individual.
