Global warming will be reduced if we use less petrol/diesel/paraffin;and plastic bags. These are all end or bye products of oil refinery. If they were not used by us and contributing to the Tax Revenue the products would be burned off releasing more carbon into the atmosphere causing global warming. How can we say therefore that a reduction in the use of these products will help to reduce global warming?

Phil, I live some miles from an oil refinery and can see the waste products burning off each night. A memebr of my family held a senior position with an oil company and the burn off is what he told me. If they do not burn it off they have nowhere to store it and that is the same with petrol a waste product after the real stuff has been taken from the crude. Tax revenue question is wheree do yoy think HMG will get it's taxes from if we do not use petrol. My own view is that global warming has little to do with man it is a natural thing and will happen whether we like it or not. Our problem is how to overcome the problems it will course, not trying to do a King Canute

We can't say that. It's just a scheme to get us away from using oil.
We can't even say that anthropogenic CO2 is heating the planet, because there is no sound evidence in favor of that theory. In my opinion, CO2 is not heating the earth.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: studies show that only 3% of the gases in the atmosphere are CO2, and only 0.054% of the CO2 in the atmosphere is anthropogenic. How can that TINY amount be heating the ENTIRE earth?

Why do you assume they will be burned off? What does tax revenue have to do with it?

Strange.

Yes we are in fact. Many people all over the world are coming up with ways to fight it and you can too in simple ways. It seems scary but with hard work we will be saved.
