Every friday night i have a bottle of wine or maybe 1 and 1/2 but no more. The next day i have trouble trying remember things, my recall is terrible. I can't remember names and my conversation at work takes a nose dive and i feel everybody is aware i am struggling. One of my colleagues even commented, saying "i was a bit slow", which really hurt. But i suppose i come accross like that. How are you after a drink, is it just me do i need help is it an age thing i am 59 years old.!!!!

You more or less answered your own question.
Different spirits disagree with you in different ways.
If you think that you need your Friday night quota, try a different drink. Even changing from red to white or viceversa might do the trick.

By the way a bottle and a half of wine is equivalent to half a pint of whiskey

Bad news. The inability to remember what happened is called a blackout. The speech damage next day is completely repairable, but only so many times. The saying is; You can drink all you want 'till "The Last Drink", from then on it's paper slipper time. Problem is, nobody ever knows which drink is the last.

Red wine makes me forget earlier than the next day. I have often had several large glasses of red, done something else then thought "I could do with a drink, I've been really good this week and haven't had any" forgetting about what I had an hour earlier!

It could be caused by the tannin in red wine. Try drinking white wine and see if it has the same effect. One to one and a half bottles is an awful lot. 2 or 3 glasses of wine are plenty.

Well that would be called a hangover and its completely normal to drink 1- 1.5 bottles and get too hammered to remember anything that happened last night so youve got nothing to worry about man.

I hadnt noticed being slow the next day because of wine, but I would be grateful for an excuse.

Try dropping back to a couple of glasses to see how you feel. If I have 4 glasses I feel a bit crudy the next day. 2 and I'm just fine.

I've never noticed that effect on me but if it's affecting your performance at work, don't drink on the day before you go to work. Enjoy your wine the day before your day off.

well babe, you might be drinking cheap wine. the sulfites are like brain cell killing drugs.a bottle of wine is a good buzz, maybe enough to get you naked, but should not effect your work 2 days later.
