was it frozen when you left it out? if not trim off the top layer and do it pittsburg on the grill, thats when you turn the flame up real high and burn the outside, sealing in the juice and leaving it pink and tender on the inside.

A number of good answers here... you will always find some folks who are scared of what they do not understand. You may like your meat rare, but in this instance since you have some question as well, otherwise you would not have put this ?? on the net. The common sense answer is not to be wasteful and yet safe. Cook the meat in the oven using a meat thermometer to bring the center of the roast to 155-160 degrees. This will help to insure that is evenly heated throughout and also to prevent overcooking. Be sure to wash hands thoroughly after handling to meat to prevent the spread of any bacteria to other parts of the kitchen.

You left a 5 lb sirloin that was frozen or raw out overnight? What was the temperature of the room it was left in? I don't think cooking it well-done will kill the food poisoning bacteria. All depends on if it was frozen or raw and the temperature of the room and how long, etc. Good luck.. Write us back if you survive. Amen, let's eat

If you only left it out overnight and are planning to cook it today it will be fine as long as it was either covered in the original package or it was frozen when you left it out. I have done the same thing many times and have never gotten sick and I like my meat medium rare. If you are really worried and want your meat well DEAD then you will surly kill not only the bacteria but the taste as well. good luck

No way. Toss it and buy a new one. Overnight is way too long. Even a couple of hours would be very questionable. You can't cook away all the bacteria in there- and why take the chance?

depends on where you live. if you live in an igloo - chances are you are gonna be A okay. but, if you live somewhere where the temperature goes above 45 degrees at night in the house - then your steak is a goner.
my suggestion: do you have a dog? also only buy grass fed beef. and try to limit your intake to minimal amounts. get protein from a variety of sources. if that were boca - then it would all still be fine!

It should kill the bacteria cooked medium....I frankly think the talk of food poisoning in meat left out is totally overrated!!!!

The leagal answer is throw it away... but
Hardly, bacteria are on the outside of the meat and less on the inside. Rive the guy a rinse and some salt on him and it Should be fine...

Just asked my hubby (chef) and he says no. He used to leave his meat until it had a green "tinge" to it and thoroughly enjoyed it. As you like your meat rare, you should be cooking it on a high heat setting anyway so that'll get rid of any bacteria. Enjoy!!

Not unless it is still cold to the touch. Otherwise you will get sick and lose much more than one dinner.
The hung meat someone refers to was actually hung and still is by hunters only if the temperature is 40 F or less. Never room temp.
