First, the shark thing is disgusting, but unfortunately, I don't think there are enough Japanese who care enough to stop eating shark fin soup. Second, I went to the International Whaling Commission site (http://www.jfa.maff.go.jp/whale/index.htm) and found some really interesting stuff. Apparently, these particular whale kills are for permitted research programs. One of the studies found that whales were eating up to 5 times the amount of fish as the human population. What that means is that Japan's population of regular fish is declining because of the predation of whales, and since their entire diet is mostly based on it, it is a problem they have to find a way to deal with.
Dolphins are another problem, possibly the only one we can actually do something about. If we boycotted Japanese products, we might be able to make a dent in that. But just boycotting won't do it. You have to write letters to the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and let them know what you're doing.

i am a foreigner living here in japan, and i have seen + test the whales from the "japanese scientific whale hunt program "
the test issuck!!
you know what kind of laboratory they use to research the whale? it is restaurant and can food producer.
thatsuck too!
and news in the here saying very little about this.
you mush see the news when some foreigner doing something bad in japan, and compare to the news when japanese doing something bad aboard.
i hope somebody will sink those hunter ships.

i'm better than satisfied. Killing whales in basic terms seems so incorrect to me. although, i do unlike how hypocritical us of a and different western worldwide places could be. How is it ok for us to slaughter cows and pigs standard—yet in different cultures killing those animals is incorrect. have you ever seen different worldwide places come right here and let us know what to do? Nope. it is all approximately lifestyle. Our lifestyle and others frown on killing animals like whales, canines, and cats—on the same time as others do no longer. it is in basic terms who we are. i'm satisfied that they have stopped. yet i do no longer assume them to alter their perspectives in basic terms because of the fact we are forcing them to.

Yea. You shouldn't buy and use any Japanese products even for a piece from now on.
Please swear and commit your plan. I think it is very nice idea.
