I recently read a pamphlet, which was put out by radical conservative Protestants in Virgina, that claimed anyone who claims "God is Great!" will go to Hell. Their reasoning was that anyone who says that must be Muslim, and all Muslims will go to Hell.

I fear we are witnessing unthinking intolerance, and perhaps allowing others to re-define the words we use. I am old enough to remember when everyone wanted to be gay, because it meant being happy, not homosexual. I am also irritated by folks who proclaim that all accidents are preventable, when the dictionary clearly defines accidents as unpredictable events.

My point: words have meaning and carry meaning, and we should not engage in ideological debates in which words are redefined merely to push the view of the proponent. Yes, by definition, God is Great. Signed by a person who believes in a single diety.

We need to be asking our selves, what is a Christian?

What we need is a term that would differentiate between those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, and those who follow teachings, that have become so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to stand for the polar opposite of what Jesus taught: hatred, intolerance, and vindictive bigotry was not the message Jesus left us.

Love and blessings Don

Thank you. To my disgust and anger, I've recently seen a certain anti-Christmas group (yes, it's that time of year again and people wanna change Christmas) taking issue with the Santa's famous laugh, Ho-Ho-Ho. I'm 33 years old and I've never seen anything so ridiculous. The group claims the words carry a sexual conotation, obviously refering to the use of the word "Ho" as is used by, dare I say, ebonics, as a shortened form of the word "whore" (please know I do not wish to offend any ethnic group; it is simply my understanding that that is where this absurd meaning comes from. Please correct me if I'm wrong).

Now, how sick is it when people begin to ascribe a sexual meaning to a pot-bellied laugh from a fella in a big red suit?

But how would we go about in our propaganda?
If you are 'old enough' to remember when gay meant happy, then surely your old enough to remember, and to have participated in the twisting of words to garner the benefits of propaganda right?
Remember the dogma against the Soviet Union? The entire 'domino theory' crap that the US used to scare it's citizens into allowing the government to spend ridiculous amounts of money for weapons systems that were outdated within just a few short years?
Good lord man, this type of word manipulation has probably been going on since the dawn of the written word.

I never heard of such a thing.

A child's blessing before a meal is like this:
"God is great, God is good,
Let us thank Him for our food.
By His hands, we are fed.
Thank you, Lord, for our daily bread."

So these people think little children who say this blessing will go to Hell. UNREAL...........

Sanity alone can't fight insanity but needs proper medical care.Leave such jerks alone. If you or I pay even scant attention to them, they would have achieved their purpose.
