There was no moving violations involed and no suspicious activity or probable cause. The traffic stop was in the state of Ohio. Can anyone help me out with the answer?

In the State of Ohio a ccw permit is tied to your license plate number. The lady cop must have been bored of her donuts and ran my plate in traffic for no reason. No citation or ticket was given.

An officer needs reasonable suspicion of a crime or criminal activity to conduct a traffic stop. I do not believe that merely having a CCW permit (which is not illegal) is sufficient grounds to conduct a stop.

If you check your law, I will almost gurantee, that some where in the fine print of having a cocealed gun permit, you can be randomly stopped and checked

Yes a police officer can stop you for "suspicious activity" Suspicious activity is how you describe the situation. Does not mean you are doing anything wrong, just a random check.... there can be a bunch of reasons,,, here are some that can be used, as a "random check"

1.License plate light not working
2.License plate obstructed,,, you know those dealer tags they put around your plate,,, illegal
3. Window tint to dark,,, there is a law but rarely enforced
4. loud music, if they can hear it from 20 feet it is to loud
5. could not tell if you had your seat belt on,, but can stop to check
6. Speeding 1 mile over the limit
7. did not make a complete stop or passed the line when you stopped
8. possible vehicle match on look out
9. show of force in the area,,, if they conduct a random stop, it may be to show the locals they are in the area
10. concealed hand gun permit does not mean, you have not been drinking or have something illegal
11. talking on the cell phone

you did not get a ticket, so why are you so upset,, just because a police officer stops you does not mean they have to give you a ticket or you commited a moving violation.

Generally, they need probable cause to effect a stop. If having a permit is probable cause, and others have said it is, well it is. Having certain priviledges means you give up certain rights. A gun permit is a priviledge that may mean you are subject to a stop or search. There may also have been a crime committed with a gun similar to yours in the area, and there may have been numerous stops based upon that information. It's really not a big deal.

How could the cop possible know you had a conceal carry permit? It doesn't sound legal to me but I'm not sure what you can do about it.
