watch that.
The Iranians are so proud of that thing, I bet they think it will make them feared by the world. Too bad it's slower than a cessna 172.
Did you hear that guy talk about superior manuvering, yea right. If that thing has good manuverability with that big propeller strapped on to the back, what are we doing building streamlined fighters with thrust vectoring jet engines?

Assuming that story is real, why was the reporter yelling in Arabic instead of Farsi?

Sigh, why do people insist on posting drivel on subjects that they nothing about.... Does anyone actually believe that the Iranians are likely to engage this against an air superiority fighter??! Of course it wouldnt stand a chance, but what about against a heavy transport aeroplane? The Iranians aren't stupid! Despite the fanatical drivel that they spout, they are technologically sound and have significant military capability.

Clearly it's not an air superiority vehicle, however it could be highly effective in a reconnaissance or light support role. The truth is however, unless anyone here is involved in its Flight Test programme, (which I doubt....) - then nobody knows what it's real capabilities are!

S*** huh? Slower than a 172? I didnt see specs for that thing.

I havent seen that thing up close but from the engine config, it seems that air is flowing over the control surfaces. This leads to some interesting capabilities. It's obvious that many people on this board dont appreciate aviation and really have no idea. Modern fighters would overshoot this thing in an instant. And that manuverability may give you an edge to avoid a missile doing Mach 3+. A sharp turn is all that's needed.

Woody and Charles M are right. We cannot underestimate Iran. U.S, UK and other countries may have faster and more sophisticated flying machines but keep in mind that the performance of airplanes are determined by their purpose. Maybe Iran is not building that thing for air superiority and I know they have their purpose that might be kept secret.
We may make fun of them but cannot underestimate them and their flying machine.

Charles M is spot on, that thing could be a real menace.
The Iranians, as we may find out in 2008, are a military power that is fully laden...with the ability to design/build/ sustain all their own stuff. Sadams lot had drained-out by the time Gulf War 2 happened.
Do you think they are so dumb as to invest in something that would not be a menace?

I think Charles is right, we cant underestimate Iran.
That plane must be faster than 172 to be able to fly with that wings configuration. but seems much slower than US fighter.
but I'll sleep good tonight, because I think US already invented those kind of things decades ago. ^^

Tomcats, Falcons, Eagles, Warthogs, and Raptors would it alive.

USA has helicopters with better capabilities.

AEGIS cruisers are designed to eliminate more dangerous weapons, this would be no challenge.

Maybe we should deploy Wright Flyer's to make the Middle East nitwits feel better.

In Addition: The A10 flies low and slow, the gatling gun would destroy this toy. Helicopters fly very low and verrrry slow, this little Iranian toy would be toast.

Sealth of a Cessna too flying only on ground effects what a joke. Our Aircraft carrier group will see that hours away and quickly dispatch it back to ALLAH! Now the heat seeking shoulder fired missle shooting down comercial airliners that could be a problem. Why don't they just strap dynamite around them selfs and blow up?
