Here in Boston, I would have to say Hood although Friendly's is good too; for a national brand, I would go with Breyer's. Vanilla, especially French Vanilla is my favorite ice cream.

It would have to be Breyers....they seem most pure. If you really want to indulge, go for Hagan-daz. If I got the $$$, that's the one I'll always get.

Blue Bell is my favorite. It is definitely not gourmet, but the flavor really reminds me of home made ice cream that my mom used to make.
