because it is poisonous to their bodies.... also, poisonous to animals is pork.... My neighbor's 2 dogs died from eating breakfast sausage....vet said it is toxic!!!

I know that chocolate contains caffine and any foods with caffine is poisonous to the dogs. As for fruits, my dogs eat fruits all the time.

Didn't know they couldn't eat fruit. I thought they couldn't eat chocolate because it acts like an opiet.

Well I'm not sure if fruit is bad for them because my dogs love it. And chocolate is bad for them because its just something inside it,but one time my dog ate a whole pan of brownies! And it didn't really do anything but I just woulden't give my dog chocolate anymore.

Well, dogs can eat fruits, they are certainly not omnivores, and chocolate makes them very sick. EVen though I have seen a dog eat chocolate, it is usually very poisonous and can even KILL!

1. real chocolate contains theobromin which is poisonous to dogs (this is "bakers" chocolate)
2. dogs can eat most fruits, except grapes/ raisins which can be highly toxic.

Not only is chocolate toxic to dogs, but other seemingly harmless foods as well, such as raisins, grapes, certain baby foods, mushrooms, onion & garlic, potato, large amounts of liver, iron supplements meant for humans, and more!
