Without this string degrading into a theological battle, I make this one statemtn to athiests: I would rather try to live my life as if there IS a God, and die to find out there isn't, than to live me life as if there is NO GOD, and die to discover I was oh so very wrong indeed. If I'm right, I gain everything when I die. If I'm wrong, then I lose nothing, because there would be nothing to lose. BUT, my life will have been more fulfilling, and I would have had a lot more fun:

Because you are. Attempt to justify your bad behavior any way you want, but that doesn't mean you aren't a biggot. If you preach, and teach, that other people don't have the right to be human, and treated with the respect that gives, then YOU are the one thats wrong.
I'm pretty sure the ignorant racists during the North and South wars in the US thought that what they were doing was ok too. That doesn't make them right. They are what they are. Bigotted, prejudiced jerks.
So if the shoes fit, wear them but, be honest, don't try to make yourself out as anything but what you are. A bigot.

A coupe of things:
Spell Check does work
Bigotry is not exclusive to non-Christians
The Bible and Christians are proper nouns and as such they should always be capitalized
Most adults can easily handle the truth ,to say that they can't is simply childish.
At it's best the Bible is a work of historical fiction and as such should not be regarded as "Truth "

More disturbing is the fact that quoting from the bible is all many seem to be able to do. There seems to be very little room for original thought...or complex thought.
Bigotry comes from not understanding what one is reading. Ignorance...well pretty much the same thing.
FYI -- I'm not an atheist. I'm simply educated enough to think about what I read and realize that my way is not going to be the right way for everyone. I'm at peace with it.

I know what it says in the bible. Why do I need you to tell me?
I also know that christians selectively use what it says in the bible to justify their bigotry.
Examples:-
+ They quote Leviticus when the want to act with prejudice against homosexuality but conveniently forget Leviticus when it comes to eating shellfish and wearing clothes of mixed fabrics. That is bigotry and hypocrisy.
+ They act with violence against people who wish to freely practice abortion and state that it is murder of the unborn child when the bible clearly states that no baby is alive until it has drawn its first breath.
I can handle the truth; it's just that the bible is not the truth but just a collection of stories written long ago by superstitious and relatively uneducated men who used the supernatural to explain what they didn't understand. That is the truth and that is what YOU can't handle.

Well, maybe you should actually read your cherished book then.
Based on what it has to say about homosexuals, women and slaves, among other things, you can't be a proper Christian without being a proper bigot.
Unless of course you allow for the possibility that not everything the bible says if face-value true. Which of course opens an entirely different can of worms, such as, "Who died and made your pastor god so that he gets to decide which passages are face-value true?"

Using the Bible to judge people who don't believe in the Bible is bigotry. Insisting that the Bible is the best model for people to live their life by is ethnocentric. If it works for you, great, but you don't have to point out to other people what the Bible says, unless you want to be a rude, ethnocentric, bigot.

Who's the bigot here? The one who believes in science that is constantly changing or the one who believe in Bible that hasn't changed for the past two millennium and condemn people just because they don't believe in God or Jesus?
