To dictate the way I lead my life?
Because of religion, I can't be married, I have no power of attorney if my partner falls ill, I have no spousal income benefits.
My partner and I aren't recognized as a couple.
What gives religious-impacted laws the right to control my life when I have not faith?

No seriously, explain it to me.

They don't have the right but they don't care. To them their religion is more important than behaving like a loving human being.

If it matters, you have my support. I'd even join you in marchs but it really isn't an issue in Canada and I'm likely a long ways away from you.

No one has the right to deny you the ability to choose who you marry. NO ONE.

Your life or your death will always be under control of either God, or the devil or government. If you feel that you have a bond to someone and the law is saying something different you have two choices. You either obey the law or you do what you can to change it. Remember just because you change man's law does not necessarily mean you are changing God's law. Many of man's laws are contrary to God's laws these days. So no matter what your choices are, based on whatever conclusions you have come to at this point, it will change as your rebellious spirit is delivered from you. Rebellion is the same spirit that drives the witchcraft....

Because the law makers are too scared they wont be re-elected if they dont choose a 'moral' and Christian view. A lot of them will actuly vote in accordance to the letters they recieve.

Its because of all the people who forgot that religion and goverenment are seperate. They dont know how to look at issues from a mind not biased from religious opinion.

Keep up the peaceful protests, public speaking, and other ways of creating public awareness. Write your state representatives and encorages others to do the same. The goverenment is run by the people in more ways than you'd think, with enough voices saying "if you dont let us get married we wont vote for you" they may just change their mind.

I take it you are either gay or lesbian. It is very simple in the eyes of God the way you are living your life is an abomination it is completely wrong. If you did have faith then you would not be living like that. So we don't dictate how you live your life we just point to what it says in the bible the rest is up to you. It is you who will have to explain it to God at the end of time.

I'd like to know the answer too. Religion should have no control over the law.

The only thing that controls any ones fate is the laws of the land. Religion can not control anyone.

The short answer is that they shouldn't have the right. The unfortunate reality is that we live in a world that is heavily influenced by the religious right. I sympathize, I believe everyone has the right to pursue their happiness so long as it does not lessen the duration or quality other someone else's. Maybe in the future this question and subsequent answer will be moot. Until then you have to keep up the fight.

Marriage is from God. God despises sexual immorality. God is the One who should define what marriage should be, since marriage was created by Him in the first place. You are not married in the eyes of God. God is the One we should look to when it comes to morals, since He is the one who gives us morals in the first place, also.

Christians will say it's not religion that imposes those restrictions on you... they'll turn it around and say you are at fault for choosing to be Gay in the first place.

They don't have the right at all. It's just sad that they are the ones in control, and use their religious dogma to spread hatred and bigotry. Move to a country that actually values freedom, rather than staying in one that just likes the rhetoric.

Atheism. You know it makes sense.
