Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! My question is I got my Yorkie Poo spayed when she was 6 months old, she will be a year next month. I also have a 4 month Lhasa Apso male, and my little girl seems to be "in heat" despite the fact that she has been spayed. Is this normal? How long will it last? This is my first experience with dogs. Thanks!

As Vet Tech as already explained what spaying is I won't repeat it. What is she doing that makes you think she's on heat? If you could give us all a bit more detail I'm sure someone would recognise the behaviour! My last dog (spayed) got very 'motherly' with my cat occasionally, trying to baby her (much to the cats disgust) it was always around the time she would be on heat but she showed no physical signs at all. The Vet said her ovaries hadn't been removed for some reason (He didn't do her) and it was the hormones she was producing! He operated on her again and afterwards she was fine!

May I wish you and ALL your fellow Americans a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

I agree with Vet Tech it is impossible for her to go into any kind of heat being spayed. If you can give a bit more info that would help a lot.
What are you seeing?

Male neutering is way less invasive than a girl SPAY surgical operation - generally low fee as nicely. And, the vet will prescribe some medicine to take living house with you if needed. yet, your dogs could bounce decrease back promptly. some do no longer even look to nicely known that they have had something performed. you additionally can spay your lady as nicely because of the fact that different male canines will be certain a thank you to get to her while she's in warmth - so maximum suitable to have the two performed. upload: be confident to maintain them separated even after the neutering because of the fact that sperm can stay to tell the story for as much as two weeks (no longer 3 to 4 weeks as stated by applying yet another responder) following the surgical operation

No way possible the vet tech is right. Is she bleeding? That could be kidney stones or bladder infection. Happy Thanksgiving to you also. I would take a pee sample and have it checked. I "can" be easily fixed. Don't really have enough info to go and give any suggestions besides have your vet check her. Sorry

If she was spayed correctly it is impossible that she is going into heat. Spaying is a complete ovariohysterectomy, meaning ALL the reproductive organs are removed (ovario is ovaries and hyster is uterus), so without her ovaries the body is not pumping hormones into her system, so she cannot and will not go into heat.

What are her symptoms? Why do you believe she is going into heat?

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your furkids too!!

It IS possible that some uterine tissue was missed. See your vet.
