I don't know but it is suspicious. If the government wanted to settle this whole issue, they would let people see it for themselves.

Area 51 was the place where troops leaving Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait for R&R in Qatar gathered before their flight.
You did mean the Area 51 in Kuwait, right?

they test a lot of concept planes such as stealth etc but, there is also another test field in Scotland called RAF machrahanish there is a lot of security there and reports of sonic booms etc, at the moment they are testing the Sr75 and ramjet or sonic propulsion, check out machranish . Apparently the north east sea is the test area. There was a navy seal team based there strange for a airbase in the remote Scottish isles.

Today?
Nothing. The base is shut down and they only have minimal staff taking care of the place and guarding it.
In the past they tested the SR-71 and F-117 at that facility. I also think they tested some sort of pulse jet plane there around 1992-4 as I saw it and heard it once. Incredibly loud.

Aria 51 anymore is all about keeping you wondering what is going on at aria 51. That way you are not looking elsewhere and wondering what is going on where they are doing actual testing.

Testing or new designs and materials. Sorry I don't think alien spacecraft or technology is there but some out of the box material and designs were/are tested there. If you want to keep your advances from being known by your opponents, you don't open the gates and let everyone see. Why does the military or government care if you think there is alien tech there, if anything makes it more futuristic then it is and makes the opponent think and worry about it.

It's nothing more than a classified aircraft testing area.
Go to Google Earth and search Area 51, Google Earth will take you straight there...

The surface is little used today, but there is a vast underground facility that they still wish to remain secret! I'd trade my security clearance for one moment with a woman that looks like kristyco's avatar! If NSA is reading this just kidding!

Inside that uber secret site is a building, 4 guys go inside it every morning at 8am.....they play cards all day..then leave at 5pm. This gives all the spies hiding in the cactus something to speculate about and be excited over.

Three things.
(1) Detection Evaluation
How "stealthy" is the aircraft.
(2) Detector Evaluation
How well does their stuff detect our aircraft.
(3) Detection Analasis
What do we do to detect/defeat this new item.
It's a testing facility to evaluate how to keep our planes seperate from their missles. Lots of hush-hush gizmos. And a lot of it was stolen from the countries that owned it!

Nothing anymore the base has been in disuse. Now in the past it was used to test aircraft and analyze enemy aircraft. This is were all the speculation about "UFOs" began.
