its this Tuesday. Its of my school. This is the first year that i decided to run it. Its a Mile and about 3 quarters. Im not a fast runner, and i dont really care if i come in last place, and i think i am coming in last place. I feel kind of anxious when i think of it. What i've been doing to keep it out of ming is thinking about future plans, like thanks giving and stuff. I am 13 years old. When i run a mile the time is aroung 10 minutes and some sec. I know SLOOOW. but that how i run. What are some other techniques that i could do to make the bad feeling go away?

Carley has some good advice regarding relaxation. Based on your ability and attitude, this is just something you want to do because you want to do it. GOOD FOR YOU !!! No pressure, no expectations except to get through it and say "I've done it" !!!

Try walking the distance over the next 2 days so you can get an idea of the distance. Then on Tuesday, start out slower than you normally run, and just enjoy doing this.

I hope your enthusiasm carries over after the run and you become a regular exerciser. GOOD LUCK and let us know how it went.

I think you should get a coach or trainer to help you to be a better runner and win races. Then you wont feel scared before a race because you are good and you wont came in last... that what i did and now im not into the long distance but im awesome in the sprints!

you are feeling nervous & it's completely naturel. in my opinion nerves are a good thing. the chemical adrenaline that your body produces will actually help you run quicker! if you're feeling really stressed try a long bath & slow, deep breathing the day before the race. remember, it's not the olympics so dont take it too seriously. just have fun :)

thinking about other stuff is a great idea. You could also start traiining more so that next time you'll be faster.

Just know that it is your own race, and don't care what other people think. Just know that you will finish and that is all that maters.
