I am in Iraq right now.. Things happen.. But you cannot be afraid of taking that step to protect your country even if its for the wrong reasons.. I keep telling myself I am not here for myself I am here for my family and their way of life.. These soldiers die so others may live! Plus the news only show the bad things that happen- blood and death sells... There is a lot we are doing over here such as building schools and hospitals but noone knows about all that! This probably did not help but.. Its always a possibility- however you could be hit by a bus tomorrow and a few would miss you.. But once a Marine always a Marine and you will be remembered even in death!

You could die on the way to your friends house to play xbox or playstation to play a war game. If you're worried about death you should tie up any loose ends, make peace with everyone you know and tell mom & dad you love them. As someone mentioned above everyone eventually dies, its what you do before that happens that matters. If that's all your worried about if you join the Marines then you should not join.

if you were meant to die you would. that doesn't mean that just being in the marines you are going to die. my brother has been in the army for 5 years. hes done 2 tours to iraq and hes getting ready for his third....and he has never come back with so much as a scratch on his head.
just because your in the military doesn't mean you have to die. stop watching the news and talk to the real soldiers and you will realize this....

There is no actual percentage of deaths. I supposed you mean when they are in combat. If the enemies is strong of course death toll is higher. I think nobody could give you the right answer. This is a noble profession. Go ahead join the marines. Serving one country and dying for it is a noble deed and not everybody is given that opportunity. Go. Go. Go.

I joined the Marines during the Viet Nam War. It was the best job I had.
The Marines typically have the toughest challenges in battle, and the best success rate. The training lasts for life.
If you want to join the military, you must be willing to shoot to kill - and to be shot at and killed.

Don't join, that question shows you can't handle it. You know the deployment rate of a marine? Very high, they are always first in last out....

No. The % is low very low for a war.
In 2006, fire departments responded to 412,500 home fires in the United States, which claimed the lives of 2,580 people (not including firefighters) and injured another 12,925, not including firefighters . All most 48000 were killed in auto crashs
In 2006 less than 800 troops were killed in the mideast.

Death and taxes.
I have friends who are Marines, they appear to be alive.
I have deceased friends who are Army, they are quite dead.
What you do in military service does not guarantee life or death.
You will eventually die.
The only thing guaranteed by enlisting in the USMC is that you enlisted in the USMC.
