Because Turkey banned the headscarf that makes Turkey ahead of the UK in terms of secular values. The UK is an international joke with minorities like Islam not adapting to our way of life.

The father of the Turkish state (Ataturk) declared that secularism was essential. It is only because of him that Turkey has banned it. Ataturk stands for the Turkish pride.

Turkey is the only exception in the islamic world when it comes to secularism. Islam claims to have religious laws - the idea that humans could make / change laws (as happened in Turkey) is mostly undebatable in the islamic world.
Turkey is the only islamic country with open debates about religion. I'm not sure how solid it is, I think it could easily change when islamic parties take over power. Don't presume that islamic countries can really develop - they can't.

At the same time, Britain has a long tradition of multiculturalism. This is nothing new for Britain; also in the colonial times, 19th century, Britain felt that every group should have their own religious or ethnic symbols to be able to flourish. But the question whether headscarf is a religious symbol is debatable.

This might offend the most but I think headscarfs are Arabic fashion not turkish culture. I mean it is something religiou, but for the Arabic people. It started with the way they got dressed( they wore headscarves to protect their head from the sun) and became some religious signal... some people wear headscarves and open their legs or bellies, what's the point of that???

Because Ataturk wanted to removed the stranglehold the Islamic authorities had on Turkey.
He wanted a secular state.
He also banned the Fez and to get away from the religious centre, moved the capital away from Istanbul to Ankara.
A recent political candidate looked as if he wanted to make Turkey less secular. Crowds of demonstrators against this notion changed his ideas.

Some governments such as the Turkish government are not afraid to pass laws which make others feel safe even though others are disadvantaged.
The U.K. has one of these wishy-washy governments who are afraid to do one thing for the people who lived here since before this country even had a government and give into people who just turn up and expect everything to change for them.

Our government won't do anything to upset the muslims. A young girl recently has been excluded from school for wearing a religious bangle, and before that a young Christian girl was forbidden from wearing a ring to show her beliefs.

So whats the problem with banning the headscarf. Its because the Muslims are more voiciferous. and more likely to protest. So, the message that gives us is, the more loud and violent you are in Britain, the more you get your own way!

UK government is soft in matters like these. Try wearing a crucifix or something like that at school or at work though and see what happens!!!
