Having JUST seen the movie SICKO for the first time last night, I would suggest you take him out of country somewhere...to see a doctor who will care for his treatment and needs more than a cash profit.

you cant make people do what you want them to do, he may be 62, good age today, but he is not a child, what about you getting off your bum and going to see your own GP,for advice on health matters, for the elderly, and about your dad. if my children bossed me to go to the doctors i would ignore them, change the attitude, i fear hospitals, but i know my own body, if i am unwell i would go myself, i think your dad has the intellience to do something if he was ill dont you, pushing people who have any phobias, mild or severe does not build confidence does the opposite bring the doctor to your home.say " dad we are worried about you, so have this small check-up thankyou".

Not the doctors themselves, just what the doctor might say!!!! The older you get the more stuff that doesn't work right, it's really scary so, if you don't want to go to the doctor and you won't have to hear whats wrong!!!!

I'm having the exact same problem with my father. Here are the things I tried:

-Of course, we told him we loved him and cared for him, and we want him to be around to see the grandkids.
-I made a bet with him that if the Rockies got to the playoffs he would go (they made it...but he didn't)
-Mom made a secret appointment, and as she was leaving she told him he could go or not go
-I asked him if he wanted to live with being sick, and asked him if there was medication that could help him feel better.
-The doctor lets him wait in her office, instead of in the waiting room before an appointment.
-We got him a perscription for "happy pills" to take before the appointment.

Well....good luck.
