Your right tombstone, the officers in charge are supposed to be educated enough to lead, but yet they are more concerned with their own carrer.

I think I would feel devastated. I am so sorry to you. Thank you and God Bless you.

Frustrated and sad yet proud. Hubby has been twice already and is looking at a possible third tour - as are many other men. Unfortunatly it's the nature of the beast at present - until others across this nation are willing to stand up and do their duty it won't change. And thanks to the drawdown in the 90's we just don't have the number of troops we used to - this is begining to change but it doesn't happen overnight without a draft. Most of the officers are just following orders as well - unless you are talking about those at the very top. There are many who are only concerned for themselves in all walks of life and many who are awesome in both the officer and the NCO corps.

Hug him, love him and be proud of him. God is still God whether he's here or there.

Not sure of the reason of so many back to back tours. Maybe they figure that by sending seasoned experienced personnel back they can avoid a lot of mistakes made by the in-experienced troops. It is a shame. I Think that it was stated that only 45 percent of the military have seen deployment Iraq. One tour in Vietnam was sufficient enough. Didn't need another one.

Thats sounds like when i was on active and i was sent to the field all the time i was deployed all the time and some people couldnt go because it would mess up their college. Then when i asked to take military schooling it was a big negative for me cause u have to go to the field while the pogues sat in the rear and studied and got advanced cause they got into boards to get meritorious promotion.

Considering I have gone on 3 deployments since 2001, My Son would have made his own decision to serve, since there is No Draft. Why would anyone want an Unwilling Conscript to cover them and their Buddies in a Sadr city alley at 0300?

Draftees arent worth the trouble they bring

Proud.

Also, disappointed in all those who refuse to serve. I served, every able-bodied person in my family served, male and female. All of my friends served, either enlisted or as dependent wives.

Yes, the dependent spouse is an integral part of the military. The dependent wives helped the single soldier/airman cope with daily and holiday life through support of their husbands. I'm certain the dependent husbands do the same, however, I never met any, so I don't know.

i AM A PARENT AND IN THE MILITARY AND YOUR RIGHT EVERYTHING THE MILITARY DOES IS NOT RIGHT HOWEVER YOU ALSO HAVE TO RELIZE THAT WHEN YOUR SON AND I JOINED THE MILITARY WE KNEW WHAT WE WERE SIGNING UP FOR. WE GO BECAUSE IT IS OUR DUTY TO GO. WE KNOW THAT OUR LOVED ONES ARE SCARED AND CONCERNED FOR US IN OUR DEPLOYMENTS. THE ROTATION CYCLE SHOULD BE BETTER THAN IT IS.. HOWEVER I HONESTLY FEEL IT SHOULD BE A LOT LIKE THE GERMAN ARMY WHERE THEY REQUIRE EVERY MALE TO SERVE FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS...... I AM FEMALE HOWEVER, SO IN MY CASE I THINK IT SHOULD BE BOTH MALE AND FEMALE... NOT MY CALL THOUGH.... BUT RELAX, ALTHOUGH THINGS HAPPEN IN IRAQ THAT NOONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT, I AM SURE YOUR SON IS WELL TRAINED, AND HE WILL SURVIVE, HIS MILITARY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN ARMS ARE THERE TO SUPPORT AND HELP PROTECT HIM. THATS WHAT WE DO, THE JOBS NOONE ELSE HAS THE BALLS TO DO, AND LOOK OUT FOR THOSE DOING IT WITH US.

Very frustrated and angry. The unfortunate thing is everyday we see people we would much rather see in a risky situation such as Iraq but instead our loved ones go. And those other people continue to use and abuse society. I totally understand where your coming from.

Yup, I can see how you feel. My son tried so hard to join but was denied due to asthma. He was devastated. I see so many people out there who just want to do nothing for their country it drives me crazy! Hell, they want to do nothing period. If it doesn't involve a video game and does involve getting off the couch and going outside and doing some work, count them out. I did my 20 but would even do it again if called. Guess that makes us the crazy ones huh?

No Sgt. Not at all. It is sad the way they keep sending the same troops back over all the time. I spent 68-69 in Nam. Why isn't the Generals reporting this crap. Love the GI's hate
the government. Be Well,bro.

In my unit alot of our NCOs volunteered to come to our unit, knowing that we were going to deploy......

Most everyone in the army is on at least their second deployment, unless they are new to the army.... I am on my first, and hope this will be my last.. but I knew the risk when I joined..

But if it was my husband I would be upset....
