REGISTERING TO HOMESCHOOL.
Following the implementation of the "Education and Training Reform Act 2006" on 1st July 2007, homeschoolers (in Vic) are now supposed to register with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). They have all the info, necessary forms etc on their website @ http://www.vrqa.vic.gov.au/homeSchool/default.htm (or tel 9637 3386).
The only regulations I can find concerning homeschooling in Victoria are:
1) The eight key learning areas of your state curriculum "need to be taken into consideration when planning your child’s home schooling programme"
(The eight learning areas are: The Arts, English, Health and Physical Education (including Sport), Languages other than English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and Environment and Technology although I reckon you already knew that!)
and
2) Any home education "must be delivered in a manner that is consistent with the principles and practice of Australian democracy".
The Government of Victoria recognises that home schooling can occur across a broad range of styles, from informal learning approaches to formal curriculum programs, and as such, does not mandate curriculum or reading materials for families who have chosen to home school.
c) Victorian Government’s Home Schooling Advisory Committee @ http://www.education.vic.gov.au/aboutschool/enrolling/hsac.htm
‘The Home Schooling Advisory Committee comprises individuals with home schooling skills and experience who were selected, on the basis of application, to provide ongoing advice to the Minister for Education about guidelines, processes and other matters relating to home schooling issues. Consequently, it will provide an important medium through which the home schooling community can participate more directly in the decision-making process with respect to the Victorian Government’s home schooling policy agenda.’

Hi, it depends on which state you are in. Start with the education department in your state to find out their method. If you want religous involvement look up "home schooling australia". There are many support groups that meet and swap ideas. I do it in Queensland

I wonder why you want to home school your kids. I don't mean that meanly but I wonder why and what benifits it has to be home schooled rather then sent to a school?
