2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (P71)...I've seen a Mercury Marauder (pretty much same as a crown vic) with a Procharger brand supercharger on it...but when I get to looking for one all I can find from Procharger are Mustang superchargers. All I want is a Self-Contained supercharger for the Vic, but I cant find ANYTHING! any answers?

Try Angry Duck Tofu Racing. This site specializes in mods for the Vic. See the link below.

They have a couple of superchargers from Allen.

Best of luck to you!

Ok, the Mercury Marauder you have seen with a Procharger is from the Movie Taxi... They used a Procharger on a Crown Vic.

But, you will need to search around. There are a few companies like Paxton, Vortech, and Procharger that make Centrifugal Supercharger units. There are also companies like Ford Racing, Eaton, Whipple, and Kenne Bell that make Positive Displacement Superchargers, or superchargers that go on your intake.

There is a moderate performance difference between Centrifugal and Positive Displacement.

Centrifugal Superchargers usually provide a more peeky powerband and less torque, but a lot of power.

Positive Displacement superchargers have a flatter powerband, a flatter torque range (Typically more than a centrifugal) and power usually keeping close to the torque.

Your particular car has the 4.6L 4V DOHC Engine, as used in New Edge Cobras. (New Edge - 99-01), and 03-04 Mach 1's. However, the compression of these motors, along with the internals, makes these cars hard to supercharge without any extensive modification, unless you plan on having a new motor built for you. :-)

I'd reccomend finding a cheap fox body mustang (87-92, don't get the 93, because it has Hyper pistons) They are very cheap to buy, and very cheap to upgrade.

Crown Victoria Supercharger

How do you like this?

A Marauder is similar to a Crown Vic but the Marauder got the DOHC 4.6 as opposed to the Crown Vic's SOHC motor. By the way the motor in the Marauder is basically a Mach 1 engine, similar to the Cobra but not the exact same. The Mach 1 heads are some of the best for the 4.6.

Don't know about the standard impala ss cars but I have police officers in my family that went "head to head" with a impala police interceptor and a crown victoria police interceptor (full gear patrol cars with police officers driving them) They said the impala is more of a powerhouse off the line up to about 120 mph, but the top end on the impala is lower and the vic starts to catch up slightly at 120...

A standard police car would have the SOHC 4.6 motor. I don't know exactly which manifold the Crown Vic has but if its the mustangs manifold it could use a mustangs kit. Since the engine is basically the same. i am sure any reputable performance shop with mustang knowledge could point you in a correct direction.

In addition, to what David said, the 4.6 ltr. Cobra engine is a 4 cam shaft motor the same one used in the 93 thru 98 Lincoln Mark VIII's (without the super charger of course).

Like someone said any good speed shop can tell you if you can do it safely, but I think it might be a little hard on that single cam engine.

There is no supercharger made for the Ford Police Interceptor engine.
