Well BG even though you are mocking (as usual) you are not far from the truth. Jesus did write up one side of the contract paying the entire sin debt for all time.

Now this is were we have to break from your perception. You also have to sign the contract for it to be binding. You have to agree to the terms of the deal.

The terms are not heavy they are as follows:
1) Understand what you said in your question to be true
2) Believe that he rose bodily from the grave
3) Submit to him as Lord and God and simply ask him to "wipe your slate clean" in true regret for your sin.

Do this and you are good. Now there is one catch. If you really have a relationship with him and you are truly grateful for what he did, you won't have the same desire to sin.

Believe it or not you are getting closer! Just jump in the water is fine!

Say that you are in jail for a crime that someone else did and got you caught up in it. You go to court and your lawyer defends you and someone grants you bail, the Judge lets you out free. Do you just go off an do what you like (meaning also breaking the law)? No there are conditions as well. You still need to do the right thing and follow the law or your back in jail!

Yes Jesus came to save us 'from' sin, but He doesn't want you to continue to live in sin. We need to repent, accept Him everyday and turn to Him and follow Him. We do fail at times, because of our sinful nature, but we ask for forgiveness and try our best to not to sin on purpose. But He does give us a free choice (God does not force us). When we do wrong we reap the consequences. Plus there is still sin on the earth, but there will be a time when sin will be no more...

The big deal has always been faith. Not the law, not the blood of bulls and goats but faith in the shed blood of Jesus because without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Christ replaced the old way of being reconciled to God. You have to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth. Now we have a conscience to discern right from wrong including staying fully clothed in a modest fashion.
You cannot keep sins and love God at the same time but must choose. Believing is not a license to sin. The Bible calls that trampling the blood of Jesus underfoot.

In the garden of Eden after the original sin God cover Adam and Eve with an animal skin, He deemed this as an acceptable way of dealing with sin. The consequence of sin is death but if someone or something dies in you place that is the price paid for. In the garden of Eden the death of the animal was a "covering" of sin not a way of eradicating it. However, the bible say that God poured into Jesus the sins of the world, I think some versions of the bible say that "Jesus became sin for us". Therefore God didn't see Jesus on the cross He saw the sins of the whole world and therefore He poured out all His wrath and Judgement out on Him. That's why Jesus cried out "my God, my God why have you forsaken me" because God cannot look at sin.

Jesus paid for our ' inherited' sin [ having to die caused by Adam and Eve's disobedience. Genesis 2; 16,17
The price of jesus' perfect human life in sacrifice has been paid.
but the beneficiaries are the righteous...after wickedness and wicked people have been removed from the earth.
(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.

(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.

(Psalm 37:34) Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it].

And fulfilling the promise that God made at;

(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

The big deal as you call it - is that irrespective of how badly we understand the issue or how poorly anyone can contribute towards a clearer understanding of how to come to terms with the man Jesus; many sincerely believe that God through Jesus has adopted humanity in its entirety for bigger and better things. Believe it or not!!!!!. Punishment, Sin, Ransom, hell and damnation, fire and brimstone may be more in our vocabulary and grossly negative. God is totally positive and his vocabulary is one of radical and unconditional love for us.

As far as Jesus having wiped the slate clean; He is not quite finished with it altogether - not until humanity is firmly on its way to putting on the character and nature that Jesus left us to emulate. If you want to play nudity and behave like a worm
you fail to appreciate your own worth.

Peace

well the slate is clean from Gods point of view. Its really Gods um, calender in which there are other issues to be solved. God is still allowing people to make a decision on Jesus ransom sacrifice. As told in the days of Noah, Many people will choose not to believe, and will be destroyed. God has promised for people to live a long time. So the big deal is do you believe history will repeat itself??

The big question mark is your very wrong contention. There is no such original sin. Sin could not be inhirited from anybody else.

Jesus died when He was crucified by the Jews in fullfillment of the prophecy inorder that sinners against God be saved but you are not part of those who were save
