okay so my 8th month old cat will not stop scratching on the cabinets and doors to everyroom he has destroyed them and we have tried everything from the squirting with water to putting the scents cats dont like on the doors Nothing works and he has been VERY bad about it lately like hell do it for two straight hours and he has a scratching post but my question is was I being too cruel to him tonight
he wouldnt stop and its 3 am and hes been at it for two hours and I was frustrated and we always put his bed in the bathroom and put him in there when we eat and tonight since he wouldnt stop I put him in the bathroom and its a small bathroom and I went to lay down planning on getting him out in 10 minutes well I fell asleep and woke up 50 minutes later and ran to get him out and the heat was on and it was VERY hot in there and he was hot to the touch
was that CRUEL of me too do that I LOVE Him and feel so bad about it

he wasnt upset he loves to hug(rub his head on my neck ) and he came out purring and hugging me I gave him a treat and played with him as a aplogy

I did the neck thing and he is okay and II got him to drink some water and he is running around playing like always

btw I dont want yall to think I am mean to him everyone I know says hes spoiled he has his own toybox and sleeps in my bed and does what he want we cater to him tons around here

he also goes into this bathroom just to sleep alot without us putting him in there he sleeps there some nights just because he likes it and the door wasnt locked and it doesnt close very well and he has opened it before actually he did earlier today so if he was so hot he could have opened

I know this is in the wrong part sorry I didnt mean to put it here

well he didn't come out of the bathroom clawing at you, so he obviously forgave you (or didn't know what was going on). just don't lose sleep over something like that, everything's back to normal! and about the scratching thing, maybe he likes the feel of wood or whatever material your cabinets and doors are made of, or maybe you have mice. i have a dog who was trying to chase a mouse one night, and he kept scratching at one spot in the wall and totally ruined the wall paper! peeled about 2 feet of it off the walls =[

He's fine I'm sure. Just give him some water in case he got thursty. I don't think taking him to the vet is necessary. Cats love warm places.
