Weren't they both ex-marines?

I know the reason Fred Rogers had to keep the long sleeves on was to cover up all of the USMC tatoos that he had. I am not sure about Captain Kangaroo, though.

Fred Rogers was once now not a Navy SEAL, Lee Marvin was once a USMC fight vet. and Bob Keeshan was once a Marine, however noticed no fight. So rather than being Entertainment personalities, not anything.

Both were kind men. Captain Kangaroo was so reassuring, funny and educational when I was a tot.

I've seen the myths debunked about the sniper bit, though both men served in the military.
