cadisneygirl76 : I'm not homosexual in the slightest however it does strike me, as Bishop Tutu says, that what with everything going on in the world, some sectors of Christianity have got some seriously misplaced priorities.

and furthermore, as he's someone who fought for so long and hard against apartheid when that existed in South Africa, he has a lot more credibility and respect in my eyes than other people would

i admire Desmond to loss of life, yet i can not agree. Aparthied is in this way of larger point than homophobia. advantageous, if the government made all homosexuals placed on call tags and placed us in a classification equipment based on the Kinsey scale or some thing like that, i'd desire to flow alongside with it. yet that merely would not jive with me. i'm black, and that i'm gay. I comprehend that there are some intense differences in the conflict of the two. for people who attempt to make out them on an analogous point, I respond. "you may desire to not be black." or "you may desire to not be gay." As for Desmond, i'm bowled over that he has such an opinion, regardless of the shown fact that it rather is his to have.

That is purely his opinion. Homosexuality is clear stated as not a life style to be pursued as a Christian. The early church and Paul never condemned people's life styles before they were born again and it is clear to see that some of the early converts were male prostitutes but they gave their homosexual lives up when Christ entered them. We are clearly not to be condemning of homosexuals but if they claim to be Christian and they still practice that life style then this betrays that they clearly are not Christian. The church has to draw a line in the sand and practice what the bible teaches,,,,,we'll be allowing paedolphiles to be ministers next !! Are we Gods adopted perfect childen or not !!

I've got an awful lot of time for Desmond Tutu.

"If God, as they say, is homophobic I wouldn't worship that God."
If some here want to insist, as they seem to, that God is, then I'll stand on the side of the divide with the sensible and humane Dr Tutu.

Once this world starts to accept someone from the Christian community then there needs to be alarm bells ringing about what they are teaching. God's word will not change and the word will Judge you. Having a free will do what pleases you but also know that going against what the bible teaches also will bring God's wrath upon those people.

I don't know what Tutu is the archbishop of, but Christian he is not. Anyone who has studied the subject in the Bible (which is a Christian's standard) knows that God finds homosexuality abhorrant.

Here's just ONE scripture out of many in the Bible that states God's feelings re: homosexuality:

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination" Leviticus chapter 18, verse 22.

This is what God says on the subject. It's true whether or not you want to believe it.

I already answered Pangel's question on the same subject:

I do respect the Rt Rev Dr Tutu, but on this occasion, I think he is wrong.

If you want to engage in homosexual relationships and you dont feel it is against the word of God then dont join a church that feels it is morally wrong.

There shouldnt be morality activism in churches. A person has no business trying to change the belief system of a church to support their own behaviors. That is pretty contradicatory to the nature of churches.

Join a church that doesnt have a problem with your lifestyle if you wanna engage in a homosexual lifestyle, but dont try to push a church that feels it is morally wrong to change their code of morality to suit what it is you feel is right.
