We are dating long distance and he will be flying down soon, but when I asked for the airfare and even suggested that I would like to pay half of it, he said no, and never told me how much he paid! Is this good, bad, and what does this tell about him? Don't I hv the right to know the fare?

It means he wants to take the classic male role and pay for things. Let him. Be happy he is coming. If you really want to know how much, then check the route and dates on a site like Travelocity.

You can go to any of the travel sites and check and see what the average air fare is. More than likely he is not telling you because he wants to pay for this trip and does not want you giving him any money. So instead have him stay with you , you feed him. thats always a good compromise, try not to worry. He is nice guy and no you dont have the righ to know if he is paying for it.

I never told my SO what the cost of my flight to him was. He had an inclination as he was supposed to fly to me but due to family health circumstances we had to change things a bit.

He offered to pay half but I told him no. Instead I had no costs during my stay He paid for all my food etc. That way he felt good and so did I.

BTW I did not regret flying down to see him, nor the way we handled it.It showed both commitment and caring as well as our own independence and values.
We now live together and are blissfully happy

No you don't have the right to know the airfare until you're married to him and share a checking account. LOL.
I'd say it's nice. Is it not?
Allow people to give you gifts. It's pleasant, don't deprive them of this. Give them gifts in return rather than not allowing them at all. Maybe next time you visit you insist that you pay for your airfare?

It tells you he is picking up the tab himself. What do you mean, "right"? You have the right to vote. You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to a speedy trial. Do you have the right to demand to know how much your boyfriend paid for his air fare? I don't think so. Just appreciate his coming to see you and being willing to pay his own way.
