and raise two small kids, look after the house.

My husband works fulltime then sits every night watching tv. Is this fair? If he does cook dinner on the weekend - meat and chips he is a hero?

No it's not fair, but why are you talking to us instead of him? Tell him what you need, want, or feel is lacking in your marriage and family life. Tell him what you would like him to do, and then praise him when he does it (= repeat performance).

Sharing of household jobs can be decided in most cordial atmosphere with mutual consent. Try it.

That is very unfair. You should do what my daughter does, she works from home and she just doesn't do a lot of things so if her husband doesn't help, then it doesn't get done. So he has to help.
