I just finished grad school and I'm still looking for a job, so not much money this year.
Is it inappropriate or rude to just give home-made gifts for Christmas this year?

Not at all, unless the gift is distasteful. Your family and friends will understand that you are on a budget right now, if they don't, then they are not good friends.

Its not tack unless the gift is a tacky thing its self, like an uneven ashtray that looks like half a cow. If its made well and has quality, it is not tack to give home-made gifts.

Not at all. Homemade gifts can require a lot of thought and time. Some of my favorite gifts have been homemade - welcome signs painted and personalized for us, Christmas ornaments handmade, gifts in a jar (I especially love getting hot cocoa mixes!), a memory box with pretty pictures and phrases decoupaged on it, all very nice for me.

During the holiday season, and all year, we should remember that there is so much joy in giving and receiving gifts bought or made with love and kind intentions.

It relies upon on the instant and the potential of the guy who made it. by way of fact of being on a limited income I do make the countless presents I provide. they are not chrochet vests and sweaters with the hands long enought for a monkey. I do acid etching on mirrors, the countless designs I do take 30 hours to diminish the stencil. the mirrors are in many situations a minimum of 24X36, 365 days I made paper weights for each individual. have you ever seen the blocks of acrillic and etched into the middle are different scenes, those are exciting, sixteen to 18 hours for a paper weight approximately 4" sq.. each and every physique performed for that individual, my son-in-regulation likes to fish, the layout in his exchange right into a river and tree, a creel, and tacklebox and fishing pole. yet another exchange right into a soccer scene, field, objective posts, scoreboard, their widespread communities emblem. One exchange into the toughest I had ever performed it exchange into the outdoors front front of Wriggley's Stadium. so which you spot hand-crafted presents have come a protracted way. M.C. & H.N.Y.

It most certainly is NOT. Handmade says "I cared enough to take my time and spend it on you. I'm giving you a little part of myself". People who don't appreciate handmade gifts are crass commercialistic grubbers. Not only that, if you added up the cost of your supplies plus a *reasonable* wage per hour, these grubbers would be getting a more valuable gift than what you could afford to purchase. Besides, you gave a gift -- you thought about these people. That's a gift in itself.

Not at all. As long as it's something that you have a skill for. Don't forget, sometimes homemade gifts can actually cost more than store bought if it's really worthy of being given as a gift.

If someone thinks it's tacky it's because they're in it for the monetary value of the gift. Hand made items say I made an effort for you.

No, only tacky home made gifts.

I'm a bachelor, and I love getting home baked cookies etc for Christmas.

How sad it is that something has made you think that store-bought is better than home-made. There's nothing innately better about a gift that you carried out of a store.

If you spend more than 5 mins makeing them they sould be fine. Dont just glue some office supplies to a clothes pin and say Merry Christmas!
