They come up sometimes in groups and are very painful. Some never really seem to go away and I have severe scarring. Should I see a Dr about this? If so, any idea on what they will do.

No, you don't have the plague and probably don't have herpes. These boils are simply a collection of white blood cells that clog up a pore and cause a sometimes painful abscess.

The boils can be caused by different factors; the most common being ingrown hairs or a plugged sweat gland which can be caused by wearing synthetic underwear or clothes that are too tight. Boils are also a sign of a weakened immune system or a bacterial infection so you might see them occur more frequently when you are ill.

Wash your groin area with an antibacterial soap for the prevention of a future breakout. If the problem gets worse, definitely see a doctor for some antibiotics.

Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Also called: Acne inverse, Suppurative hidradenitis

Yes, see a doctor. The doctor can lance the boils for you so they won't be so painful. I'm not sure about long-term treatment but I hope they can offer you something. I'm really sorry you're in pain.

If they are boils, then you have a staff infection. That is what causes a boil. You should definitely see a doctor. If a staff infection is left untreated, you can have a lot of bad complications.

Are they ingrown hairs. Please tell a dr. or seek medical attention if they have puss. Have you heard of that staff infection that is going around that's incurable? Please see a dr right away if you have any questions... theres actually a number of things that could cause this. Shaving, ant bites, heat rash, spiders, but only a Doc can tell for sure.

Is an STD a possibility? It sounds like it could be HPV...the virus that causes genital warts. For SURE see a doctor about this. They can only check for HPV when there is an outbreak. I think they just work it in as part of your pap smear.
