I am about to have my first driving lesson ever in the next couple of hours.I'm 34 and have never driven before in my life.I'm not so much nervous, more unsure of whats going to happen on my first lesson.I'm in the uk if that helps, don't know how driving lessons differ from country to country.Any advice or tips on what to expect?
TY xx

im uk too.
just take your time the instrutor will help you get started, dont panick at other traffic as they were once were you are and should understand if not then theyre assholes.
when changing gears i use the rev of the engine to tell me, some people use a 3 second between 1st and second gears the rest will come natural.
driving is fun especially after your first lesson you'll get such a buzz.
your instructer will keep you safe as it will be dual control for the cluch and brake.
ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY,i actually envy you because i loved learning it feels more of a chore now.
good luck and remember pratice makes perfect so get plenty of pratice.

Sure. The instructor will sit you in the driver's seat and explain what most of the controls are about. He/she knows that you won't have a clue, they're completely used to this, so don't panic.

Quite probably you'll be talked through moving the car off so you can have the satisfaction of knowing you've achieved something, and maybe actually go for a little drive. The instructor will be with you all the way and make sure you don't get into trouble.

All instructors adjust they way they teach according to the pupil.

By the by, have you ever ridden a bike? Then you already possess some very useful skills without realising it, you know you use the brakes to slow down, you know that we travel on the left, you probably already understand gears etc. - there, you're part way there already!

Above all , enjoy your driving!

you will be talked thru/shown all the controls, what to do before you move off, mirrors etc, when all thats done youll start driving, they will keep you to quite roads till you get used to the controls, l couldnt grasp the feet controls at first so mine said imagine your a duck in water, moving one foot up and the other down, l also found feeding the wheel hard so practised with a plate at home, once youve had a couple of lessons tho youll be ok x.

Funny how everybody gets so nervous of driving tests..Take it you done Theory test,if not that's best to get out the way..Having an instructor you get on with is so important...Think intensive learning ,if possible is better than 1 hour a week..Driving to begin with should be about feeling in control of the car...Have confidence and positive thoughts ,or mistakes will come out..

i was going to suggest dont crash! theres nothing to be nervous about. the instructor has full control anyway. i was a forklift driver before i drove a car, MD's car was in front of the entrance i needed to go through, his keys were in it. into 1st and away like a banshee with the squirts. its only a machine like a drill, your in control.

Be courteous around the semi-trucks. Don't freak out when you get beside one or when you get ready to pass one. Don't forget to ask your instructor about truck safety.

Don't Panick.
stay calm, listen to what your instructor tells you and try to enjoy yourself.
If you feel uncomfortable say so.
Good Luck
