I'm only 13 but theres a girl in my grade who ive liked sinced 2 years ago. i told her i liked her about a year ago just before she started dating some kid who i hate. she told me not yet, but weve been best friends since. i dont know if my social status has to do with it. im kinda a nerd, and shes really popular. id like some advice on what i should do. i really like her, and she wont let me give up since i wouldnt want to be her friend much after that. can anyone help?

Unfortunately, for you both...it has everything to do with status. Kids at that age, everything is about status, apperance and popularity. Its a phase, everyone eventually grows out of. It is not a rationally explained positon, but it happens. Why are people like that? I do not know. It just is.
For you my boy, for now, all you can do is find something better to occupy your time. Until she gets wiser and realizes there are more important things than popularity, you are just SOL.
