Wait are you active duty as well? Or are you just waiting for your husband to get the actual orders? You can probably call the travel office of the base you know and ask them as a hypothetical question (although its not really). See what they say. I am not sure but the military will order your tickets and such and those will probably be for leaving from where you are now.
Really your best bet for real accurate information is to call the travel office at which ever base is closest to you and asking the people who do this for their job.

As long as the Army moved you to your current location, they will move you from that location with no problem. If they did not move you there, your husband will have to make sure his orders state that your HHG are shipping from your current location 1- the movers, not the Army, will put your things in storage for as long as you need them to 2- it is probably not a problem to ship the car from a different location than your HHG- just ask transportation up front 3- do not lease a car, that will cost you a fortune and the Army is good at working with you if you just ask 4- The Army will arrange for packers to come and pack you and move you, you do nothing but supervise 5- no, they will not just pick up your things unless you have someone with a power of attorney there to assist them and sign everything. Moving is a process and you need to be there to watch them pack and load everything 6- your shipment to Hawaii will actually be 2 shipments- they will come to your home about a month before you move and take your first shipment- this is the stuff that will be waiting for you when you get to HI. Usually people send a few dishes, some pots and pans, etc. Just the stuff you know you will need. When you actually are set to pack out they will come for the rest of it. That shipment could take 4-8 weeks to reach you. Keep in mind that the housing wait list in HI is usually long so you might not have quarters before it arrives anyway. Good luck

Well when we PCS to Germany we left from FL because my husband took leave ,and even shipped our POV in Fl; I would wait for your husband's orders and you need to have the Army pick up your household goods dont you? I guess you really need to talk to your husband as he should tell you how you will travel.. have you gotten your passport and been checked over by EFMP? everyone going Overseas have to have a passport and family members must go through efmp before you PCS.
As long as you have a military clause in your lease you have nothing to worry about explain to your landlord your going to Germany they may allow you to do a month by month until you have a copy of your husband's orders.
You will Love Germany I suggest going online and studying for your drivers license .. without it you cant drive over there.
Good Luck I hope I helped in some way.

i just did a PCS move in august with my husband (he's Marines though, but it's all the same). you have to wait until you get your orders.. and i dont think theres much you can do to speed those up.. you can call and ask thought. BUT you can get out of any lease with orders. i only lived in our apartment for 7 months, and we had a year lease.. and we got out of it just fine. I would just call the TMO office (i think it's 'TMO' for all branches..) and ask them, this was my first PCS move, and i felt soo dumb.. and my husband didn't know anyting. lol. Just call, they are really helpful. :)
have fun in Germany!

Depends on housing availability as well as rank, kids schools it all plays a roll, but I would guess 6months give or take before you will be on a plane, and it will be a civilian flight.
Spent 6yrs stationed at Spinnelli Barracks and lived in Benjamin Franklin Village (BFV) Mannheim Ger. 2 kids went to high school there some of our best years!

they will only fly you from the location you were at when the orders were received . therefore, they will NOT pay to fly you from NC. Now, if flying you from NC was cheaper than flying your from your HoR, you may luck out and they will approve it, but he has to ask Transportation if he can request alternate routing for you.
