For that experience to be real (actually happen as described), we must believe that God has not made up His mind- AND that heaven is not cooler than Earth- which would sort of invalidate the whole idea, wouldn't it? AND the person has knowledge that God does not seem to have ('my family needs me').
As a Christian, I would rather believe that these experiences are simple biochemistry than believe that God runs heaven that way.

Hello,
Sounds like we have all heard those light and tunnel stories so perhaps our mind just generates them. Anyway no one has ever come back or revived from being truly dead, especially after rigamortis has set in. Your brain can live several minutes to pehaps an hour in icy cold water conditions where other body functions have stopped but you are not really dead. The day someone comes back from being officially dead as described, I'll certainly give them an ear.

hm. I've heard of people seeing a light, or looking over themselves on the operating table and stuff like that, but I've never heard of God giving them the choice of living or dying. I think God will make that decision for me...I don't thinkhe'd give me a choice. Doesn't he know when we'll die?

NDE'S. I don't know about anyone else, but having health problems since the age of 7, I have had many "near death experiences (NDE's)" and one death experience. I have "never" seen a "light" or "seen" God in any of them, though, I have heard the Lord talk to me, and have also heard "demons" trying to fight for my soul many times. Being "spirits," in death or in an NDE, even "I" can not see myself, so it is pretty clear to me when someone says they see all these things and "feel" they have been "dead" when it is all part of the "brain" not receiving enough oxygen.
In the "spirit" world (the worthy), the one thing I have "seen" is an "essence" (shape of a person in the form of see through grayish smoke) "as" the spirit wishes to present itself to you. Then there are the "unworthy" who are void of form and are as a black hole which is "shapeless." Good or evil, spirits have no "bodies" except for one. Jesus.

No I have never heard of this but then again I don't know any nurses or doctors. It would be real interesting to have this conversation with medical personnel. I bet they have some real interesting stories to tell. Have you heard of anyone that was sent to Hell and then given another chance and was revived? Interesting subject!

Brain continues to function up to 5 minutes after the heart stops beating. It's called "clinical death", but obviously if you come back from it, it's not an actual death.
Actually, near death experiences are perfect examples of explaining religious experiences in terms of BRAIN DAMAGE.

They are what are commonly called "near-death experiences". They are hallucinations caused by the release of certain chemicals in the brain due to low levels of oxygen in the body. Experienced effects of "near death experiences" are quite similar to effects felt with the use of other types of drugs. There is nothing spiritual about it.

I don't know anyone personally, but I believe we would have to go in front of Jesus before God, since we are seperated by our sins first, then we go through The Son to The Father, now there are times when I personall have seen some of the bad things, and when God gives me the choice, and it is time, I will go if it is Truly Gods will, we are not supposed to hang on to this life, but be ready to lose it.

have heard of this but not from someone who has witnessed it.
I hear more about people seeing their loved ones in heaven waiting for them.
Either way it's a comforting thought if not a fact.
