If a person is a born again christian and gets mad at God and then tells him he hates him and then tells the holy spirit he hates him but later on repents, do you think this is the unpardonable sin?

No. The unpardonable sin cannot be commited by telling God you hate Him. The Pharisees were accused of this when they said Jesus was operating under the power of satan when He healed the blind and dumb demoniac. Jesus was operating under the power of the Holy Spirit when He healed, so their comments were actually a direct assault on the Holy Spirit Himself. These individuals made those comments in hatred and arrogance and displayed no remorse for their comments. If a person repents for saying mean things to God, that shows that they are sorrowful for their actions. Remember, 2 Corinthians 7:10 states that 'godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation'. The Pharisees were not sorrowful. They hated Jesus, but their assault was on the Holy Spirit Himself. They pretty much called the Holy Spirit satan. Also remember, these were the same bloody murderers who later nailed Jesus to the cross. They sealed their own fate.

The circumstances under which the unpardonable sin can be committed simply don't exist in this day and age! In a nut shell, this sin was committed when the Pharisees saw the miracles of Jesus and openly declared that the power by which he was working the miracles was by the power of Satan. In other words, accrediting the miraculous workings of the Holy Ghost to be the works of Satan. We don't see the miraculous workings of the Holy Ghost in this day and age as we are told in the Scriptures that "where there are miracles, they shall cease" The only sin today that condemns anyone is the sin of unbelief as Jesus tells in John 3:18 God Bless!

No I don't. I believe that when you say and believe the Holy Spirit doesn't exist then you aren't saved. If you repent and then believe again then you are pardoned of this sin. Basically if you say that the Holy Ghost doesn't exist then you are a non believer and cannot be saved unless you go to the Father.

Mark 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost HATH NEVER forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: 30. Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

There are lots of Christians arguing over this today. But the Bible clearly states that if you were to observe the things Jesus was doing and said that Jesus does these things because he has an unclean spirit in him, then you have committed that unpardonable sin. There is never forgiveness, even if you repent. That's why it is called unpardonable. Jesus is the "he" referred to in the last verse.

The argument is, Can one commit that sin today? Based on the entire passage, I am of the "no, you can't commit that sin today" group because I have never seen Jesus in the flesh, and I have never watched him perform a miracle in the flesh. Therefore, I can't claim the miracle I saw performed by Jesus was as the result of an unclean spirit because I never saw him perform one in the flesh.

Many others disagree.

Absolutely not. The way I understand it, the unpardonable sin is attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to Satan. If you commit this sin the Spirit will leave you, because it is the Spirit that tugs at your heart and urges you to be right with God. If there's no hope for you, he leaves you alone, and if he's leaving you alone you won't even want to be right with God. You won't worry about it.

In your religion, there is no unpardonable sin. It either is a sin or it is not a sin. If you repent to your god, he will forgive you. Don't worry about it. Just remember this. If you want to go out and have a good time and do all kinds of neat stuff, don't go to church on Sunday and expect rockets to go off. You gotta really want it.

Or...find a nicer religion.

I read it was blaspheming the holy spirit. Repenting won't help. So if you say something like, piss on the holy spirit, you're toast. As you can see, I don't believe in all that.

If you feel the self conviction of the Holy Spirit you haven't commited it. If you do you won't even care about offending God anymore. Peace!!!

Take it from Jesus himself:

"But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation." -- Mark 03:29

If you don't believe that one, he basically says the same thing in Matthew 12:27 and Luke 12:10.

If Jesus himself said it THREE times, and he *IS* God(tm), then that kinda wraps it up, doesn't it? But, I'll bet you get lots of Theist responses that say otherwise. Like those self-righteous jerks know God better than Jesus! How arrogant of them!

BTW, in case it comes up, the verb "blaspheme" isn't as complicated as some may have you believe: blaspheme - to speak impiously or irreverently of (God or sacred things).
