I dont have a membership and cant pay for one, but I got as far as it would allow me to without paying. I fould "esther bulgach" who i know it somehow related to me...maybe great grandmother. And Julius who is her son.

Ok all the names I have are Philip and Esther (married)

their children, Lena, Morris, Julius, betty, and louis. Theres also a lawrence who im pretty sure was only adopted, not related.

oh and Benjamin who was in the Russian Army.

They are all russian.

oh and one random question. My grandparents say they were from Kiev, Russia. I asked "isnt that Ukraine? arent we ukrainian?" but they said it is russian because it was part of russia when they lived there. so what are we considered?

Well, whether in Russia or not....It would still be Ukranian. Of course, I think you'd have to list both to be historically correct.

Use Rootsweb.com as much as you can. Also, there are some websites for beginners that you can join there. They have lots of members with the Ancestry.com memberships and they do like to volunteer to assist others. I did have a membership for 2 years; then they decided to make some changes and I didn't renew it. Maybe I will do it again someday..... I found lots of info on the census records.

Geographically, Kiev rests at the hub of Europe and is a completely various world but it's simple to it better if you start from with hotelbye . Kiev is the capital of Ukraine and is probably the most lovely city of all the article soviet countries. It is a city of all you least expect. Kiev is an ancient town wherever previous matches new and east meets west. One of the points you can see in Kiev is the St. Cyrill's Monastery. This monastery was totally off-the-beaten track. That little church is as previous as time, relationship back to 12th century. Paintings of the famous Mikhail Vrubel get you in to a different world. And the fact the Monastery is from the key tourist sites in Kyiv is likely to make the experience even more humbling and inspirational.

I can make it easier for you. Go to your local library and use their computer resources. Most libraries, even small ones, subscribe to one of two genealogy services, Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest. You get to use them for free if you have a library card...and library cards are free. If your library spent a little extra money, they can make it possible for you to access the sites from home by logging into them through a portal on their websites.

As for your ethnicity, you are Ukranian. Russia may have ruled the Ukraine at the time, but the ethnicity doesn't change. It's no different than the Poles from East Prussia who were under Russian rule in the 1900s. Regardless of ruler, their land and their heritage is every bit Polish.
