This is just our of curiosity, say this family, husband in the AF, with a kid, mother dies (or vise versa= mom is the airman, dad is the civilian who dies) is the surviving parents kicked out of the air force?

not necessarily. a family Care plan will need to be established. There are plenty of single parents in the military that make it work. Single parenthood does NOT get you out of deployments or other obligations, hence the need for a FCP. this is short term, long term and immediate notice care providers

If the Mother dies and Father is the Airman the answer is no.
If the Father dies and Mother lives with a child then she must gather her things and leave the base because she is no longer eligible to stay;However, she gets paid from her husbands check and this makes it possible for her to support herself and the child.
If the President dies the first lady must leave the White house and take her children too if she has any within the time limits allowed. She is basically kicked out.

I raised 6children and I was a single parent and in the Navy.
