At the risk of becoming the latest victim of bashing...(which of course, i dont mind, cuz at least when they're concentrating on my pagan self, they're giving someone else a break!)
Why is it that nobody can entertain the idea that the spirit of god entered into joseph and thus through the act of procreation produced the child jesus?
If joseph and mary were together anyway, who is to say she really was a virgin? And did she have any children besides jesus?
No offense intended, but these are just some of the questions that run through my mind when it comes to issues such as this...We obviously were not present, therefore there is no way to know for sure....and did not jesus himself say that the kingdom of heaven resides within?
It is just hard for me to accept this whole scenario.....and besides that , what type of scientific proof do we have? What exactly is the dna of jesus christ...do we even know or better yet, will we ever?
just my humble pagan thoughts at 3am.....

Well, if you believe that God has the power to create life, then certainly you would have to accept that God doesn't need "sperm" or a "phallus".
I believe that Mary was a virgin conception thru the power of God. I believe that it was certainly a miracle (in that it is beyond man's ability).
Your "question" focuses on the PHYSICAL view of the event and speaks NOTHING about the SPIRITUAL view.
To a great many people, the event was SPIRITUAL.
To doubters, the event was PHYSICAL and therefore confusing.

There is a version that says that Gabriel mated with Mary, another that says that he was a member of a higher race, technologically well developed that impregnated Mary artificially. Now Christians say it's all magic and sparkies that God sent into Mary and from there Jesus sprung

The egg spontaneously began to divide and develop. The power of the Holy Spirit caused the egg to do so without the usual means needed. Yes, it was a miracle...God acting outside the normal operation of things. The question is then outside the bounds of biology. The question is philosophical, are we in a closed system or are we in a system that may be acted upon by supernatural forces?

In the book of luke, chapter 1 verse 26, says, God sent the angel Gabriel to mary, and said "don't be afraid, Mary, for God has decided to wonderfully bless you! very soon , you will become pregnant and have a baby boy, and you are to name him Jesus. He shall be great and shall be called the son of God. Mary said, " how can this be? I am a virgin. the angel replied, " the Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of God shall over shadow you; and the baby born to you will be Holy- the Son of God.

It was not done physically, but spiritually. God works miracles and it was by His grace that He allowed Jesus to be born by the Holy Spirit. If God is able to create life by His Word alone than it is not unbelieveable that He should be able to create life inside Mary's womb by His spirit alone.

sure. that's extremely sinful to gangbang in the previous marriage. God, The Holy Spirit and Jesus are constantly recent in one yet another because of the fact the are the Holy Trinity. they are constantly one. this suggests that Jesus did in actuality have intercourse along with his mom. So, as a effect, it became a three on one sort of deal, nonetheless the capability of the Holy Spirit's genitals.

The "immaculate conception" story of matthew is often descibed as referring to an Old Testament scripture. The problem is that this scripture never mentions a "virgin", only a young woman. The immaculate conception story, however, was absolutely necessary if you wanted to convert Zoroastrians (the largest world religion at the time) because of the Saoshyant prophesies. The high priesthood of the Zoroastrian faith were known as the "Magi"----do you remember that story from Matthew?

There was no sperm or phallus needed. God transferred the life of Christ into Mary's womb. He created the embryo there.
