So I've been genuinly wondering for a long time now; why can't we all respect one another?
What's so hard about being peaceful and civil to one another; regardless of ANY kind of difference?
Yes, I'm Wiccan- I've decided my path (although it forms itself more every day) but I have friends of almost every religion...and of no religion at all..and I learn from each of them. I absolutely adore debating and viewing from other viewpoints.

Doesn't *anyone* else feel this way?

I wonder about that all the time. The need for control and having to be right, to me, is out of control. If we could lose that need, and just respect each other beliefs, no matter what they are. Maybe we could get together and work on some real issues.

Hey Jess, I feel the same way. I chose Wicca in '94 and have been VERY happy with the choice. Trouble is the early Church tried to tie everyone into their religion and when that didn't work, they started pounding it into everyone's heads that we (and everyone else not of their beliefs) were evil. Problem is people still believe that and instead of accepting us for what we are, as we are, they attack us. Wish it were not true, but it is. I doubt that it will ever change until people take the time to learn about us and what we are about before opening their mouths and attacking us!

Blessed Be!

I totally agree. The thing I'm always reminded of is that there are several religions (mostly of the monotheistic variety) that have as a part of their faith the proposition that they alone are right and in posession of the 'real' truth and that all others are doomed for damnation. Their choice becomes being more tolerant and thereby being a hypocrite to their faith, or being true to their faith which requires a certain amount less tolerance and exclusivity. Tough place for them to be. Tough stuff for the rest of us to have to endure also...

I don't know but I think that's the way things should be.
Myself I was baptized in the Roman Catholic Church but I see myself as just a spiritual person with no religon but I do believe in Jesus.
I guess I just have a path of it's own and I probaly confused whoever reads this but I can't really say too much else.

I am with you completely. I am Atheist, and it was a long, well thought out journey to this point. I love learning about other people's views, but I find many people get angry about my views and judge me. I do not try to convert people, but people constantly try to convert me!

I respect people who can agree to disagree and realize that differences make this world interesting and that we can all learn so much from each other by talking and listening respectfully. It's kind of crazy and sad that the people who claim to be 'good Christians' (loving, kind, generous) are the very same people who want to spew fire and brimstone at me and tell me I am doomed to hell.

It's normal to feel that you're right, I know I do. But just because something is right for me doesn't meant that it's right for everyone. I understand this and never try to change someone's belief about their life. I have no patience for people who refuse to show me the same courtesy.

It's all cool.

I really love it when someone wants to know about the Catholic religion.

If they bash it go ahead, they are welcome to do so. Just shows their intentions--that's all.

One thing for sure if you are Wiccan or Buddhist--I don't care, and sure as God's earth I am not going to say something negative about it. Your choice, your wisdom.

You choose either way.

I have absolutely no problems with this what so ever . I think the line starts were you start to threaten bodily harm not by disagreement in beliefs. If some like to verbally joust let them go no one has to participate in being a butt head if they choose not to.
