Theoretically maybe, but practically, no.

Some respondents are wrong ... there are differences among HDMI cables, but the question is do you need the better quality for your application? In most cases the answer is no. See the first link.

The only advantage to Monster over other cables -- in most applications -- is the upgrade warranty (and maybe the (questionable among knowledgable people) cachet of being able to say "I use Monster".

But you can save significant $ and get a cable that works every bit as well (and even better) for a lot less money. See the second link.

As a comparison:

2 m Monster 1000 -- $129.95
7 ft BlueJean BJC Series-1 -- $33
And the BJ cable is arguably better.

No.

There is also absolutely no quality difference between a Monster Ultra anything (or any other high priced HDMI cable) and a $5 HDMI cable from some no-name brand.

Audiophiles will claim they can hear a difference between cables but those kinds of audiophiles are, generally, half out of their minds.

The only thing you may (and this is in an extreme case where you're doing something odd like running the cable directly across a live 220 volt main) see as a difference between the two is a suscepibility to interference, but even that is pretty unlikely.

Save yourself $40 and buy a cheap HDMI cable, you'll never know the difference.

No.

Monster is trying to create fear by telling people they need to buy their "high-speed" HDMI cables to future proof their system.

And their "Video1 Video2,... Ultra 600, Ultra..." is mainly marketing to make sure they have cables that can sell to different income levels.

HDMI is a digital signal - very insensitive to the cable.

I use Monoprice HDMI cables behind my rack for short runs to a HDMI switch. I use a $38 HDMI cable from BlueJeans for the longer run to the TV.
