Go to your local post office and buy a box which is large enough for your items you want to send.
Then pack in everything. Close it. Write the address and sender's address on it and ask how much it costs. Depends on the weight. Books are heavy.

I'm not sure why you don't know how to get to a post office...

But depending on the size of the parcel you'll either have to get a box (you can have one already, or you can buy a properly sized one from the post office), or you can get a pre-paid satchel (which has a weight limit but it costs the same to send it anywhere in Australia regardless of the weight as long as it's under 3 kilos and fits in the parcel), and you wrap the items yourself (they are going to get tossed around, so if anything is breakable, be aware of how you wrap)-- then put them in the box (assuming you go with box), seal the box securely, make sure you put your return address on it as well as the address of your friend in Brisbane on it, and then take it to the post office for them to weigh it and ship it. When I address things, I clearly mark "TO" and "FROM" and make sure that the "TO" address is larger and centered on the box. Make sure you have the full address including the state and post code. If you don't have it, you can find it on australiapost.com.au or you an look it up at the post office or in the back of a phone book.

With the way Aust. Post is working lately, I'd also insure it or register it. I've been waiting for a parcel for 3 months that was sent air mail, which has been traced to being in Australia for over a month! And it took two weeks for a parcel to get from Brisbane to Sydney... so... good luck!

You can pay by cash, EFTPOS card, credit card (post office may have a minimum limit on when you can use a card, but it's usually $10 - $15).

Cheers.

Either wrap the parcel yourself or buy a mailing box at the Post Office and put the stuff in the box. Seal the parcel/box, write the address on it, write your address on the back as "sender" take it to the post office. The assistant will weigh it, tell you what the postage is and put the stamps on it. You pay, they send it.
