I don't understand what a Communion message is . . . is that the prayer at communion, or a sermon during communion?

Here's prayer . .

Our gracious eternal God, ever with us through the seasons of the year as well as the seasons of life, we pause with thanksgiving in our hearts this day.

• We thank you for this land, filled with resources and beauty, wealthy and manifestly blessed when compared to the nations of the earth.

• We thank you for the way in which you have so richly peopled our lives and placed us in rich communities such as this church where we are received and accepted so graciously.

We pray for our nation as we approach our day of national thanksgiving. Make us mindful of our past and inspire within us the vision to perfect a still more perfect union. May our leaders be people of vision who by their offices are led to become statesman rather than opportunistic politicians. Give us all the vision of a world where justice and peace and love reign and where all of your people have their needs met. Give us thankful hearts.

We ask that you bless these emblems, as you continue to bless us. Amen

Here's a 'message' to say during communion.

1 Cor. 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for* you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ 25In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Godspeed

Communion Message Ideas

2016-11-08 00:55:37 · answer #2 · answered by carrozza 4 · 0 0

Sorry I didn't find your message till today (this evening?). Maybe a couple of ideas.

1. Matthew, Mark, and Luke all have the Last Supper in the narratives. One approach is to look at what's new compared to what was (the Passover meal, or seder, as some call it). The Jewish people were probably keenly aware that the lamb's blood had to be shed according to the Law of Moses. Another is to explain how much Jesus loved them, even to the point of being their substitute (ours too!).

2. I've also used the passage from First Corinthians 11, and frankly that's where most ministers I've heard (Southern Baptist) take the passage. Some of the points might be:

--the Institution of the Supper (why do we do this?),

--the Inspection of the Saint ("let a man examine himself . . .)

--the Imperative from the Savior (as often as you do this)

and so on. By the way, Sermon Central has several sermons on this and other topics, all FREE! Go to this web site:

www.sermoncentral.com

and browse to your heart's content.

And may the next service (it's way too late for something you did hours ago, natch! be even better than today's. God bless you.

I am assuming that everybody there already knows the significance of the Communion (with respect to Jesus' sacrifice) and that you are not looking for a basic explanation of this.

You could put it in terms of a most profound and loving sharing among friends, with all of you at the Lord's table. Jesus is not only sharing himself and his love with you as individuals, but you are also sharing the Spirit's blessings with each other in your fellowship. You could vividly describe what you thought it might have been like to be present at the table with him. Paint the picture of all of you sharing that with him together.

Finish with 2 Corinthians 13:14.

Just reflect on what Jesus did for us on the cross and how we do this (communion) in rememberence of that deed. He gave His life for OUR sin so we wouldn't have to. He shed His blood so we could be saved. His blood is a new covenent with us. Just pray about this. God is faithful. He didn't put you into this situation to see you fail. He will provide you the words. Just start and He will finish it. Let me pray right now. Lord please help this dear brother in Christ as he searches your heart for the right message. God, please send the Holy Spirit to give him a peace that passes all understanding, and free his mind to deliver a message you had planned since the beginning of time. Speak to him and give him an open heart to listen for that still small voice. Thank you Lord for what you are about to do, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. Amen. Blessings to you!

You should go to The Bible where they are having The Last supper and give the message there, about The bread being the body, and the wine, the blood, and that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we will be continue to be brothers and sisters when we reach home, that we all make up the body of Jesus.

It's all about His sacrifice, man. It always was, always will be. Remind people of the glory that we get to have because of what He did. You know what I'm talking about, not just all the freedom that we get from all those diseases, physical and mental.. but that we get also get our authority back as it was given to us as humans, being real children of God..(remember we are gods????)
Think about it first..It's a LONG story...........

Tell everybody that Jesus got up and, with a wink and nudge, said to all present "Except ye eat my flesh."
