I am 14 and I live with my aunt. My parents died. She never let's me leave the house and when I do something wrong like getting a bad grade, she will not let me eat or hit me. Is this abuse?

Not letting you eat is abuse. She does let you leave the house b/c you go to school. Not letting you leave the house other than for school is not abuse. Hitting you (depending) is abuse. Spanking you and light hitting is not abuse.

Is she hitting you hitting you, like leaving marks? If so, then yes, that can be considered abuse. If she is swatting your bottom or doing more of a smack on the arm, then it is not necessarily abuse. You can talk with a teacher and let her know what your aunt is doing and she can decide if family services needs to be contacted. Just understand that you may end up in foster care. But do not let that stop you if you are being abused.

Being punished for a bad grade is not abuse, but being hit or not allowing you to eat is. A guardian is supposed to supply you with food, a safe shelter, water, clothing, and education. Once someone crosses the line by not allowing you the right to a safe home or food, it is a form of abuse.

Yes you need food to survive and no one should hit you over a grade. If the grade is bad she should help you or hire a tutor. I bet your parents will come back to haunt her ***. Tell a school councelor or call the police and tell them of your situation. Maybe you can make other living arrangements with a grandparent or something.

I can understand the not being able to leave the house for a bad grade or doing something wrong. But, I don't get the not letting you eat, that is wrong. Ask your guidance counselour at school, they will be able to help.

I understand not letting you leave the house for doing bad things, but not letting you eat is horrible. And it depends on how she hits you

Yes it is.Find an adult you trust and tell them what is going on.Then see if they will help talk to your aunt about it.It sounds like she is going through a tough time dealing with your parents death as well.Maybe you can talk her into getting help for the stress she is dealing with.If nothing else, talk to a school counselor or teacher about it.They know who to talk to about the situation, and alternative ways to handle it.

Yes. Nobody has the right to deny you food or beat you. Talk to your principle, a teacher at school, or call the police. You don't deserve this, but only you can change it.
