If you're unable to work due to a chronic medical condition, you may be able to apply for it. You can certainly call their office on Monday morning and explain your situation to them. They will require a doctor's official medical diagnosis and prognosis of your condition.

No you can not get disability allowance, but enquire at the local SS office about incapacity benefit if this condition stops you from working for more then 3 months at a time.
If this is the case, your doctor would have to sign you off as long term sick and you would get around the same amount you would get on jobseekers allowance anyhow.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Richard

There is a Social Security office somewhere near you who will have an answer to your question. Certain disabilities will result in social security benefits. The office will advise you quickly.

If you have a doctor who will put in writing that the condition is permanently and totally disabling, and has lasted for a minimum of 12 months, or your condition is terminal, it would not be a complete waste of time to apply to the SSA.

If you don't meet the above conditions, then no.

What you do is go through the proper steps to apply for disability insurance, and if you are turned down, hire a lawyer who specializes in getting people on disability, and who will take his fee from the back money you will recieve if he wins the case.
