I tried using the HDD, and it didn't work, the PS3 did not recognize it as it did not come up as anything.

The PS3 is *supposed* to work with mp4 files... that's what the downloadable trailers are. I've been struggling with mp4 and wmp11 - trying to get my PC to serve the files for the PS3. I've also tried copying the mp4 files directly with limited success.

Give it a try, and let us know how you do... you aren't going to harm anything by trying.

ps3 can only read a FAT32 external hdd, so just use a program called Partition Magic to do a 50/50 split if u wanna use it for ur pc as well.

if u burn a movie file in mpeg or mp4 to a dvd-rw and put it into the ps3 it will show up as a data disc in the film section of the XMB.
