I've found that some of the most vocal and staunchest opponents of homosexuality harbor homosexual desires.

If by "people" you mean christians, and by "religion" you mean what christians believe and teach, the answer is simple.

A christian is a person that follows Christ, and reads and believes the Bible. The Bible is very clear on what God says about homosexual behavior.

By the way, if a person claims to be a christian but rejects the clear teaching of God's word they are still in darkness and have never been born again. In other words, they are not a follower of Christ. They are not a christian, not any more than a high school dropout can claim to be a college professor.

I suggest that you read Romans chapter 1 to read what God says about homosexual behavior. What God says is what really matters.

Because it is a sin (but not the only one) that, if a person is living the gay lifestyle, i.e., a practicing homosexual, is completely irreconcilable with the salvational concept of "repentance." In the Christian proclamation of Jesus' promise of salvation, we repent and are saved when we believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

So an man with an "oversexed mind," so to speak, can live a sexually active, yet godly and pure lifestyle if the sex he enjoys is solely with his wife. But a gay man cannot exercise his homosexuality in any way that is pleasing to God because there is no biblical provision for a godly gay lifestyle. I believe the word used is "abomination," so that's pretty clear cut.

Same would be true for pedophlia, for instance, or even a predisposition to sadism, murder, etc.

The Good News is that Jesus can set any of these sinners free from the power of the sin of homosexuality, pedophlilia, etc., just the same as he sets the adulterer free from the desire to sleep with other women.

Not to say the effort to abstain from an immoral sexual lifestyle of any sort is easy, but I believe it is only possible with the power of the Lord.

I like the fact that it is being brought up. One reason why is because I am a Bisexual Christian. I see my 'brethren' picking on them, persecuting them, and denying that they are just as likely to trust the same God that they do. I have even talked to one Christian who won't tell them about Jesus purely on the fact that the man is homosexual, that's disobedience to Christ, which I think is worse.

It should come up because homosexuals may be saved as much as anyone else. I want both homosexuals and the 'Straight' Christians to understand this.

People that are creeped out by homosexuality in the church should make sure they keep their pants on, and stay away from anyone of the same gender who doesn't agree with this basic premise.

You may be sick of hearing about it, but it still effects a lot of lives, and I'm sure those effected are not just going to throw their arms in the air and say "whatever".

Think outside the box, hon.

God says it's wrong.
1 corinthians 6:9 What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10 nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And yet that is what some of YOU were. But YOU have been washed clean, but YOU have been sanctified, but YOU have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.

then why'd u ask about it? lol but in some people's Bibles is says that homosexuality is a son and God condemns it so then the ppl feel like they have to judge ppl who are. Which is sad i know.

Then ignore it?
Frankly my concern rises from religion being used political and legally to deny rights and freedoms to a significant minority.
