Yes, this is just strange because Latin America is a group of countries where people speak languages from Latin descent like spanish and portuguese and it has nothing to do with the geographical location.
Mexico is part of North America and Mexico is always excluded from it because of the discrimination and ignorance because people from USA don't understand the Mexican culture and customs and they are afraid to take the Mexican customs from illegals because they think that these customs are a shame. If you don't believe me, then tell me why Canada is not a latin american country if 23.2% of the population speak french a latin descent language????

First I must say that Mexico really is part of Latin-America. Mexico is also part of North America. America (the continent) is divided in three: North, Central and South. In the US, America means the country, but the result is the same as the continent is known as The Americas: North, Central and South. Like I said, Mexico is part of North America either way, and is also part of Latin-America.

Because one is a cultural division and the other is a geographical division. Mexicans speak Mexican Spanish, and they have more in common with South Americans than with USA Americans or Canadians... just being on the North American continent doesn't change their culture.

Another one that you'll not understand is North Africa - they have more in common with the Arabs than with the Sub-Saharan Africans.

Latin america constitutes mexico, central america, and most of south america. It is based on culture and consists of other countries with that culture: It is not based on continental geography.

So, mexico is part of north america, guatamala is part of central america, and colombia is part of south america; however, they are all part of latin america.

Mexico is considered part of central America. That's why they usually put Mexico in with central American studies.
Also, the majority of central American countries are in North America.
I know it sounds confusing but central America is just a region and not actually its own continent.

Latin American countries are in a group based on language not location or geography.
