what I mean is, I do not watn to take down all those names/ meanings of stones and herbs ,since i will be hand- copying them, as those lists are extensive, if i am not going to be using them on a day- to day basis. That is how i shoulda worded it. thanks! If a certain spell calls for dried herbs tht I can buy at the store or a tumbled stone I can get for pennies on the dollar because a certain spell calls for it, fine. Tha is what I meant.

The great thing I've found about witchcraft is:
Take 10 witches and ask them something. You'll get 10 different answers. Yes, most of the answers will have similar roots, but they're all unique. And yes, all the answers will be correct too! (if only correct to that witch)
Do what feels right. Unless your coven has rules about it, there's not too much limiting what you choose. If you work alone the only thing limiting you is, well, you.
"I am not drawn to them except if they are called for in ritual or spell. Is that ok??"
I'm not quite sure what you're asking. I take it they are only appealing when used for spell work, and their natural qualities have little appeal?
maybe I dont understand because everything I do is magic, wether it be taking a shower, cooking dinner, or taking a walk. Spellwork, magic, and life melt together as one to me.
I think i ramboled a lot, oops. My advise: If you dont want to use it, dont.

Ummm...I don't think I get your question. Where are you seeing herbs and stones used outside of ritual/spell work that makes you ask this?
(And using the term "herbology" makes it sound like you are getting your information from Harry Potter.)
You don't have to use herbs or stones if you don't want to, even in spell work. I'm guessing you need to learn the basics of spell work before doing any, though.

Well, that all depends. Herbs and Stones/Crystals have a lot of power in them if used properly, but you don't actully need them. If you are following your path and find everything works just finefor you without them, then there you go. Try some things out and see where your path takes you.

Don't listen to the first lady, sweetie. I do a lot of spellwork so and I have a love for flowers and stones because both of my grandfathers were amatuer botanists and geologist. Do what feels right for you. If you can listen to your heart without having it influenced by outside sources follow it, because your heart is rarely wrong.

If you don't want to, or find no benefit from it, then there's no point in using it. You may want to give it a try, just to be sure, before decidind.

My understanding of various Pagan paths is that if you're not drawn to something or don't feel it's necessary, it doesn't need to be a part of your path.

I don't care at all about your weird question, I just think that Emmi's answer is one of the funniest answers I have ever heard.
And I think L.C. summed it up best for the rest of us functioning in society.

No, you don't have to use anything that you don't feel drawn to. In fact you don't have to use anything, period. The ability is in your mind, not the objects.
You might like Chaos Magick. You can use anything or nothing in that system.

Those things are just tools. Use the tools you are comfortable with and that help you on your path. You don't have to use any tool you don't need.
