Respect your parents decision. If you really want a pet, try volunteering at an animal shelter for a while. THis gives you a change to gains ome experience with all sorts of animals, gives back to the community and also shows your parents how dedicated you really are.

Pets require a lot of love and attention.Trust me the cost of a pet such as a dog (or cat) is not limited to a leash, a bowl ,bed and a food.A dog requires walking, grooming, training, medical attention ( veterinarian bills are not cheap, did you know they have vets who do just dental care?) .I don't know if you have always wanted a chihauhau or if it is because so many stars carry them around and dress them up like people.I'm sure the dog gets no pleasure from wearing a scratchy tutu and a feather hat just as you wouldn't get pleasure from wearing a collar and leash. There is no such thing as a "free" dog. When your interests change and you realize how much work and responsibility is involved in a dog you will probably lose interest.I don't doubt you truly feel you are ready for this commitment but I read you are 13.Please consider these questions. As a responsible pet owner do I have the money to spay or neuter my dog. What if my dog has an injury or illness that requires surgery and a hospital stay do I have money for it.There are alos routine needs such as immunizations, check ups ,etc that are needed to keep your dog healthy. What if I want to sleepover at a friends who will feed my do and let my dog out when needed.?When I go on a trip with the family who will watch my pet? Not all hotels, motels and campgrounds will allow pets. These are just a few of the questions you must answer BEFORE getting a dog. There will come a time other interests will replace your interest in the dog and while it is normal for you to change it is not fair to the dog. Have you ever seen the T.V. commercial about the adult dog tied up in the back yard, lonely and forgotten because he isn't a fuzzy little puppy?Very sad and all too true. For the record, the fact you keep bothering your mom over this issue does not show maturity it just shows that you are thinking of your wants.Take care.

this is what i did to convince my mom to get me a dog. First don't talk about getting a dog for a while to let your mom calm down. next find some information about the breed your mom will know your surious if you do some research. then find some really cute pictures of the breed and put them on the fridge or wall don't show them to your mom or she will get mad and say, "your not getting a dog" then prove yourself responsible for caring for a neighbors dog or something. but the most important part is show your mom how cute they are. If your mom is worried about it making a mess or shedding do some research and tell her some thing that you can do to prevent that.Trust me this works my mom went from sayng she never wanted another dog again to getting two dogs. good luck!

Volunteer at the local humane society. Find a local trainer and see if you can watch some classes. Learn how to work with a dog so when you do get one you'll be great at it.

That is nice that you can get a free dog, but have you thought about how much it could cost if the dog got sick or hurt? It could be thousands of dollars that you'd have to pay right then. That is a lot to ask of parents.

Maybe after you get your own apartment and a job and learn what it means to be responsible...

...that would be a time to start thinking about getting a dog.

So you can get a dog for free. Do you have any IDEA how much it costs to own a dog?

When i wanted to get a pup i was in your same situation so what i did was let my mom cool down a bit so just dont tell her anything about dogs then after a while you can ask her again but give her the info on the breed , the breeder , and proove to her that your responisble inof ..this worked with me ..
hope this helps :)

Why do you just "have to have one"? I'm sorry to say you will probably just have to wait until you are older and live in your own home to get a dog.

your parents are the boss like it or not.most times the kid grows up and moves out they leave the dog with their parents so they can get a new puppy.
